It's been many years since I've read this and I still regularly get war-flashbacks about how god-awful the story is. Like, I'll remember the plot and feel immense anger just surge up in me. It's so genuinely upsetting how it's supposed to be romantic, but it has such dark themes that are just brushed off and not treated seriously at all

Ittetsu's backstory is insane!!! Jow the fuck did his father get away with murdering his mother. He did it in his son's room! He's a fucking violent sadist! And "he's changed" and is happy and normal with a new family?!?!? I'VE NEVER BEEN MORE ANGRY IN MY LIFE. Couldn't enjoy the story anymore, that's just too fucked up.
