Someone (forzo and noble allies) is trying to cause a rift between the royal family and the Arzens, so our MC is on the case to unmask the people behind it and the reasons. The prince ML is there to investigate on behalf of the king, because the king doesn't truly believe all the bad rumors about the Arzens amassing an army, since they've been loyal so long. The prince from the foreign nation is investigating because his people are being captured as slaves, (which should be illegal) and has a magical artifact that hides his identity from others (but not the mc). He's pretending to be her lover as they team up, and ML is jealous but still battling the effects of the curse which says he can't love her without putting her in danger. Forzo is very wealthy and has mysterious backers that are also trying to plant a puppet advisor to the crown prince that they can control to sway imperial opinion (MCs father would have been the logical choice for that role otherwise). She works under forzo and has been helping spread the rumors about the Arzen family. The MC offered to help her escape his influence if she was being forced, but the most recent chapter seems to insinuate that she's possibly playing a more central role to the political plot/slave trade/drug ring willingly. I think we're still learning more about her, unless there's info ive forgotten about!
