If writing is truly something you enjoy, definitely don't quit. Keep in mind that popularity is not always indicative of quality, once you free yourself of that idea, I think you'll come to enjoy your craft a lot more. You're completely valid for this! This is exactly why fanfic writers often specify it in their tags. Whether people like to admit it or not, the way you perceive a dynamic can absolutely influence how you write about the characters, and its totally normal to have a preference for one over the other reply

Depends on the quality of the fan translation. If it's done by a good scanlation group, I'll probably stick to it and just read the official one later on to see how it compares. If it's one of those trashy machine translations though, I'll completely avoid it until it gets an official release reply
