BDK did a crap ton of research and pretty sure they watch the classicals. All I knew is she does 3d renderings for the anatomy ( most character have really good anatomy cause she uses models as a base point and then goes from there). For the hands when theyre playing piano she traces over actual footage / replicates the movement. I don't really know their background in music but they did have a day job before fully committing. Don't know what that day job was though
For a lot of backgrounds they use blender and rotoscoping ( she takes pictures of places and traces over them. For example, the background of Austria, Salzburg. I don't remember, but pretty sure she posted pictures of it in her blog.)
