I remember reading this for the first time years ago and I dropping it soon after because stories about a romance between people in the entertainment industry (in Japan and South Korea) often repeat the same story conflicts: the difficulties of the industry itself, the pressures of fans, and the intrusive nature of fans and the media and the entertainment companies on their personal lives. I was afraid this story would follow those tropes and it would become too heavy, especially because these two men are in a romantic relationship. Thankfully, I'm really happy I began reading this again soon after dropping it because this is a much lighter and wholesome story. For the record, I'm fine with stories that are heavy on the troubles that come with the entertainment industry, especially in regards to celebrities' personal lives, but those stories get really frustrating because these characters soon feel like objects and I lose the feeling that the characters are people. In other words, a lot of these stories make me feel tired because the characters feel tired. However Star X Fanboy feels so hopeful. This is why I love this story. This story doesn't just detail their relationship; it covers their dreams as they navigate where they want to be as people. Rereading this for the nth time, I always feel so lost afterwards because I know their story isn't over but... it is... lol. Time to find another love like this one.

So... this is... The Bachelor but Cinderella-style? Lol

I want the trio's story too! I want to hear about how their generation caused havoc too! I'm conflicted because I like hard working and adorable kids like Iruma but I also like hard working tsundere kids like Kalego! Why do this to me?!

I don't really like the god... she rubs me the wrong way... like, I feel like she doesn't really care about the kid. She just wants him to worship her and take care of her shrine so she doesn't lose her power. And the only reason why she has been involved is because it's a competition between her and the goblin. Never once has she expressed the well-being of the child or her desire to help or protect the child directly. I don't know, hopefully I grow to like her (because it seems like she's going to be a main character). But she feels like a lot of people I know in real life: people who don't care unless it's to help themselves and their pride... If you don't care, please get out of the picture because the false hope you bring is just as damaging. If you don't care about the child, stop pretending you do and cut the weeds around your shrine yourself! I'm not bashing the story, I just... her character hit me too close to home in a negative light.

If she thinks THAT WAS HOSTILE, I'm afraid she's still too naive. For me, it's not that she's too kind or that she's dumb. Rather, she's too naive. She's too ignorant of the evils her father and sister are capable of. I agree with everyone: I want disgusting revenge but with how this story is going, I think it's going to follow the path of Ludis becoming a Saint figure while the emperor and the sister having their downfall (after torturing Ludis even more because she's a pushover and will allow it to happen) and falling in love with the ML who periodically helps her. I'm okay with this too... but I wish Ludis will grow a backbone.

There's a difference between Ludis's reaction to being abused and, say, Max (from Under the Oak Tree). Ludis and Max were both abused daughter; however, UtOT (I will now abbreviate it) does a FANTASTIC job in illustrating the effects of abuse and the long-term ptsd. This story doesn't do that (I mean, it does but I don't think it's as effective). This story doesn't focus on the psychological effects of abuse, but rather emphasizes that Ludis wants a new change because what else is she supposed to fear after facing death once already. My complaint about the story telling effects between these two is that Max, despite having a slower development and more difficult time becoming "stronger", her character development is better formed in my mind. Ludis' character development is... muddy. If you have nothing else to fear, become fearless! Become reckless! Become enraged and drown in the emotions that you have compressed into your heart! But no... her character development is a bit flat for me and lacks any sort of emotional pull. I'm not pulled by her emotions. As frustrating as Max can make us readers (not because she's irritating but because she's so fearful despite Riftan loving her so much), Max's desire to grow and overcome her faults and past is what makes her endearing. Ludis is sweet and pitiful but I feel like she lacks the desire to change. She says she will change and she's slowly becoming more confident (or rather, less fearful) but that sort of change is not going to cause any change. Just look at the few last chapters, she slightly changed her attitude but nothing changed much... At this point, Ludis will not create any change and will instead get rescued by the ML again...

I'm not bashing this story, I'm just comparing and contrasting some of the story telling effects and characters because I am frustrated, like everyone else. I just want to express why I'm frustrated and how I think characters like Ludis are sweet but... not as effective in creating empathy from the readers (as opposed to characters like Max). I like this story and will continue reading... please don't hurt me lol.

Okay... maybe I'm just getting too invested or too angry at hooooomans, but I'm ONLY on chapter 32 and I just shouted at my phone: "Please, can half of these characters just die?! If you want to be a hero so badly, if you want to share your sobstory of a backstory, if you're trying to live JUSTLY, just please die. I don't have time for people who are naive right now. I don't care if you all die, just don't cause any problems for Han Bin!"

Lol, I think I'm getting too intense. Ahaha, I've been really angry at people/characters who want to personify justice or who want to be victims despite their compliance - I'm looking at both Elijey and Atisse (again, I'm currently on chapter 32). Bwahahaha, maybe I just need to get past the next few chapters but at this point, I currently have no sympathy nor empathy for either of them. Especially Elijey, because she feels like the type of character who is "fated" or created in the plot for the sake of being the "oh no, I'm a victim of the system. Oh no, I'm fated to die just when you start liking me" sort of character... so... I think she might die and I don't feel too bummed out about how I feel... bwahaha, I think I need to stop my rant because now I'm just getting angry at all the characters. By the way, I've been reading too many manhwas with crazy plot armor and idiotic characters and my brain is probably fried at this moment. Don't attack me, please.

Let's see how I feel about this story and these characters in the next few chapters...

Bwahahahahaha! I know! When I got to that chapter, I slapped my knee and laughed (because I predicted it, not because it happened. I'm lacking in sympathy, but I'm not a psycho!). Honestly, she's one of the few characters in my whole life who got no sympathy from me. I don't know why I didn't feel bad about chapter 45 (when THAT happens) but I really didn't care. It's so weird because I usually am a ball of sadness when characters fall into unfortunate situations but this time, nope. No feelings. Maybe I was just in the wrong mindset when I started reading this?

dude, I forgot what the wyvern is called, but I was so happy when hanbin left her in that cave, and I was really hoping that I'll never have to see her again.. BUT THEN SHE APPEARED IN LATER CHAPTERS AND I KNEW SHE'D JOIN THE TEAM AND I WAS LIKE NOOOOOO.
and when she was making friends with elijay (or whatever her name was) I was hoping she'd leave wit her, but nooooo..

I totally get you being annoyed with characters, even if it's for different reasons in my case :'D (still hope the wyvern girl would leave)

I think my problem with the characters are that they... are kinda annoying. Lol. Like, no one listens! Then they get in the way. Then they need to be saved. Like... ugh. But I understand that they are "necessary" characters for Hanbin.

This boy... I feel the second-hand embarrassment for him because he's making a fool out of himself. How will he redeem himself? I'm not excited for him to suddenly become a better person. Rather, I'm excited to how his father and the kingdom will deal with this dummy. I hope he gets justifiably punished instead of just a slap on the wrist.

I still find it very unbelievable that this red haired fuckboy suddenly develops feelings for Chloe even though we all witnessed that he never cared for her at all!!!
