The premise is this S-ranker, one of the strongest in the world despite being basically a kid, was one of 3 of the only survivors of this S-rank gate which killed like 500 hunters, and they were stuck in there for 100 years from their perspective (but only a few days for the rest of the world??).
Anyway, he planned to kill himself once he got out, which another survivor did (leaving only 2), but all the other hunters in the gate had kept giving him wills to complete on their behalf on their own deaths, so he had to do stupid things like knit 100 jumpers or count 200 pear-shaped clouds before he could let himself die. He's hiding his identity and waiting to complete all the wills which is when the plot starts.

Yesss they thought he was arrogant at first before his mask broke some years into the campaign and they discovered he was just a kid. After that, as more of them were dying, they always left their wills to him in particular just to keep him alive at the other end. Years had already passed by the time the story starts and he's still trying to complete them all with a lot of frustration lmao
