This story has the best character development, best smut, touches deep & dark topics (handles them well). Yeah, it starts out toxic and most of the comments are correct when they describe it as something which is a red flag , but TRUST ME, read this. I wasn’t on the Toxic ml’s side at all (I’m extremely uncomfortable with Sexual harassment related crimes) but it’s so well written that I don’t hate the present him.All the characters are good, however I do think that Euiyoung and other side characters could use more spice .
Firstly, do not start attacking me about my opinion here. I’m not a novel reader, so I’m not sure how much the novel explains better than the Manhwa. I’m going off of my interpretation of scenes.
I’m not gonna discuss about the ML and FL sharing a Half Brother. It is strange, yet not an ick for me atleast. Works as a kinda plot twistThe parents are the worst, like period. Even Edel’s mom is not a good person in my eyes.
When his wife has a love child, he abuses the poor kid and when he has a love child it’s totally okay??? WHAT ??? Honestly, since I’ve heard spoilers. Emel becoming the emperor at the end just adds salt to the wound for Rezef and you can’t help but feel terrible for the poor guy :(
I feel like their could have been a better solution by giving all the main characters therapy. Instead, Rezef has ended up at the point of no return.
Like, I can’t help but feel like He deserves better. Yes, he’s a psycho now, and yes, he needs punishment for his crimes. BUT he definitely deserved to be a villain.People bring up how shitty he was to The Flin their first life. But the thing is, even that could’ve been avoided. I feel like people don’t understand Rezef well enough.
The OG Rezef and Cayena were close as kids and each other’s only aid. Growing up in such a shitty environment, Rezef became cold and indifferent. While Cayena being a woman at the time lived in disadvantage. (I have some level of knowledge regarding psychology) She starts becoming desperate for affection.
Raphael feels like the perfect candidate, status, looks, personality (People in such environments tend to draw themselves to those which feel more homely to them. So a cold duke like Raphael would catch her attention. Sorry if I’m not explaining it well)
Right now, Rezef needs someone to remain by his side. Yet, Cayena is obsessed with The Duke and ignoring him more and more. She spends time in bullying Olivia. (I think Rezef liked Olivia in his past life?) Rezef feels more neglected than ever. And the shitty parent is still around.
He begins to grow cold towards Cayena as well. As someone who betrayed him by breaking her promise. While Cayena just truly wanted to be free from the strings and find happiness in love. It wasn’t her fault yet she failed to see the signs of her mentally unstable brother going cuckoo. But we can’t forget about the Nanny, she’s the most important reason Cayena ended up that way. Being separated by the only Parental Figure you have in your life (cause let’s be real, her parents probably never met her after having her). For a developing mind that can be damaging+ the trauma of being kidnapped and that being a direct reason your loved one was harmed. It can cause many mental problems.Although, if she hadn’t had the nanny in her life she would’ve been just as bad as Rezef.
Rezef see’s Cayena in Olivia and brings her into the pile of His obsessions (if I remember that is lore accurate). He doesn’t really care for her, she’s just a Cayena Replacement
Raphael is also a fucked up case. With being harassed by a girl who just wont leave you alone. Growing up emotionally damaged from Neglect and his mommy daddy issues . He has no idea what goes on behind palace walls so his reaction to Cayena’s unwanted affection is also understandable. Then having your loved ones harrassed because of the Palace brats
Olivia and Emel are milder cases. Being Seen as trash by others due to your status and ofthn being harrassed. And for emel, living with the fact that He has a Shitty Father.
TL;DR sign these characters up for therapy along with all the other Internet Oc’s. They all deserve better and a happy ending
