He actually explained it great. Life paths are made with ppl with higher Edeyas, and they are literally trained to think they are on top.
But they only see the person after the Edeya..

adding to the comment before me, in one of the earlier chapters he's also taking about how he doesn't understand why a disgusting edeya like his would be seen as great and everything, simply bc it's S grade
so he himself thinks his edeya is not good (not in a battle sense, but in more of a general sense) so it doesn't deserve to be "rated" that high..
that's why he says that he doesn't believe that there are grades to edeyas, bc even the "weak" ones are good given proper use and the "good" ones can be bad or useless given the circumstances

while this is definitely plot-heavy (very slow tho..) I dont see problem with a nice side of romance

I do think she is the the dunes daughter because of that chapter where the Duke said "unless she was experimented on, her eye color would be the same"(not the same words but yea that's basically what he said) and we know that the FL has been experimented on
And even if she regressed there was still remnants of the experiments

I do wish there is flashback scene on the kidnapping part then her backstory connected
