So the speculation that i can say about the Anna story is, it is show not everything lead to the niche nice ending.
You can see in the typical movie or any story, the parents will go "Oh, this animal is really my child! I still love you no matter what!". A moment to show the happy ending where the parents accept the "fate" that their child is not in a "human shape" anymore.
But in this case, it's not happening like that. The story just makes you think the moment of the mother suddenly realises that Anna is really a pig can lead to her accepting Anna no matter what. Just for "No, i cannot accept this is a reality. I need to kill this pig..." bad, unnerving ending.
