I hate how that was handled but yo I get it in a personal level and from a Western viewpoint. After getting hurt over again you kind of have to build a shield and look after yourself. It's one thing to say 'sure lets try it' only to have a 50/50 chance that later in life this person won't turn around and 'say never mind!' You never really know what that person has going on in their head if they don't say anything. Don't get me wrong it took guts to come out and tell the person you like how out feel about them and come too terms about your sexual orientation but at the end of the day after what Yuuichi went through with his other relationship I can totally understand that uncertainty with starting another relationship with a man who only dated women.
