Every hates the therapist but I for one am glad that this character exists. He currently is Clark's only friend and one of very few people that Clark actually cares about. Yes, he makes dubious choices like falling in love with his murder client; but its because of this exact personality trait that Clark is close him? The fact that therapist guy is overly sympathetic and indulges potentially dangerous people (aka Alex and Clark) is why he is Alex's only "friend".
