Please try to understand the situation.
We’ve already lost good platforms because people couldn’t be discreet, and we really don’t want the same thing to happen again.
Sharing names openly on TikTok, Twitter, or other public spaces puts these sites at risk. Not everything needs to be exposed for views or attention.
If you care about having a place to read and enjoy content, please be responsible and keep this information within the community.
A little discretion can make the difference between keeping this space alive or losing it too. Thank you for understanding.

Things back then were spiraling and getting WAYYY too much attention. Users were panicking and posting everywhere on MGo (pretty much how its like rn with everyone freaking out about ba2 but just much much worse). they were flooding the manhwa's comment section, the homepage, spamming the report button and even messaging MGo. It got chaotic, especially with a "threat" right in our "territory"
disabling the comments slowed the onsite chaos and made things quieter from MGo's end. It didnt solve the direct problem tho since the people involved could still take everything elsewhere (which is exactly what happened btw). that author's work was actually on lzhn, so they somehow got lzhn involved too. it was messy and made people panic. a few months later lzhn and wbtn launched their reinforced measures (purging sites included). Well... its been about 9 years now and mnggo is still running and jjcat (the uploader of that author's manhwa) was never taken to court and is still uploading
TL;DR
i know it CAN play a role, but just getting exposure or even threats from authors isn’t enough to close a site. MGO has faced several disputes, even lzhn and wbtn somehow got involved, but the site is still running and jjcat was never held accountable.

Back then things spiraled fast and got way too much attention. Users were panicking and posting all over MGo similar to what is happening now but much worse. Comment sections were flooded people were mass reporting and messaging the site and everything got chaotic especially with a legal threat happening publicly.
Disabling comments helped calm things down on MGo’s side but it did not actually solve the problem. The people involved just took it elsewhere which is exactly what happened. Lzhn and wbtn ended up being pulled into it too and it caused a lot of panic at the time.
Its been nearly 10 years now, and MGo is still runnin and the uploader involved was never taken to court and is still uploading.
TL;DR
Exposure and author complaints can matter but they are usually not enough on their own to close a site
