so what i got from this is that the previous and then the now emperor is totally different because of their upbringing. the now emperor is heavily influenced by yeodam so he the "better" version of himself compared to the past. however that doesn't erase yeodam's traumatic past so he still can be scared and hate the emperor
it was nice how the translator inc the author's explanation and some snippet regarding the manhwa bcos it does explain some of the things that i don't understand. really great plot and how it doesnt overly go overboard w the romantic stuff its kinda realistic in a way yk in fictional world
