So uh.. the story was fine (* ´ ▽ ` *) ? I guess?
I honestly liked the characters a tad bit but they were all held back by how little screen time they got. Most interactions were summarized— which was nice by chapter 50 because I definitely thought "damn, any other author would've used 100 chapters for this background information"... but when the main story (which had a bunch of lore and super interesting information + mind you, the "original story" was set in the war which is sidelined for "oh yeah ML gets jealous bc of everyone— even his own dad" and the occasional "oh yeah while you were soft launching a kiss, we were working on this super intriguing plot movement which wouldve been great as a chapter focused on side characters without the main characters") is completed in 80 chapters... I realize how much is ignored for convenience.
The characters all had great potential (especially to whom I'm biased: Mr. Grey hair weed guy and Mr. Blonde duke (?) noble who was adopted after being a slave but also he's a fairy who can bring hope but it's never talked about and it's just mentioned for the female lead to have a reason to keep him around for romantic tension, which is never seen because the author is afraid of making fans prefer him as male lead, and convenience because literally he does nothing in the story but talk to people and hold an.... irrelevant divine item that "helps the nation sleep" WHEN EVERYONE ELSE HAD SUPER COOL IMPACT LIKE SOLVING THE ACCESS TO WATER AND MEDICINE??? - AN: sorry, I just love him) but it's all thrown away because the author wants to rush the story and focus on the male lead and make him redeemable even though he's honestly... not that interesting beyond deus ex machina spells each chapter and suddenly bringing the FL back to her senses.
I'm not really mad about the plot holes but I hate how much potential is wasted because the Author can't decide where they want the story to go.
But I'm not entirely mad about the series... like it was fun and fast and great for an all-nighter and if you don't care about pacing or character development or plot holes, it's interesting.
+ I definitely would make sure my sister was a loved, overpowered child as well if I was god.
╮(￣▽￣)╭ this rant probably sounds like I hate the webtoon or that I don't recommend it to whoever is looking at comments before reading but even though it's just a tad bit disappointing, it's still a somewhat interesting read— I mean, I read all of it!
But word of advice, the title/promo does NOT even relate to the story. The dad occasionally asks "can I adopt you,, nyan!!" in joke panels but literally the only found family is a husband (and I guess friends... but does that even count as adoption? Feels more like kidnapping, which fits the original Ibellin or wtv her name is, since she just picks up kids wherever she goes)— because the male lead constantly shuts down any notion of adoption because he doesn't want the romance to be inc*stous.
