Sorry, I don't like the uke. Everyone has, at least once on their lives, had their hearts broken in love, but not everyone will choose to start a sex-related job and have relations with a married man. He can't really blame his bad choices on the man that rejected him since they were only and exclusively his choices.

Hey guys, my question is a bit unrelated to mangas...Have anyone of you has seen the movie Forrest Gump? It's really an amazing movie, please take your time watching it. I totally recommend it if you haven't watched it yet. You don't need read the rest of you haven't seen it.

If you have watched it can you tell me why Genny left Forrest after doing with him for the first and last time? I mean she did return to him because she knew he would always be her home and she loved him with all her heart in spite of not believing in his ability to love. I mean what was she running away from this time?

Even though I should be feeling sorry for Huihui I don't know why I think he is too manipulative and the kind that won't let Lan be happy if he himself isn't even though he knows Lan would cut out his heart for Huihui

Got people saying that 'they're not falling in love with each other'. I think it's actually pretty likely that they are. Mainly because the uke is repeating his crush's name over and over like he's trying to hold onto it. And while he's getting raped, he can't bring his crush's face to mind and immediately turns to touching the seme's face. At the same time the uke is seeing for the first time that the seme cares about him as indicated by the beginning. The seme's actions are absolutely drenched in pain which make this manga more heartbreaking.

What I think other readers are seeing is too much reality. Rape in the Yaoi world is a touchy and complex subject. I personally tend to hate it when it moves from fantasy rape to realistic rape and this scene plays with that line. But this one stays in the fantasy rape realm through the uke's reactions. The uke is not drawing attention to the act, that's not where his focus is. His focus is on what's going on behind the scenes. The feelings of both of them.

IRL rape is an act of dehumanization, often deliberate rather than subliminal but it can be that too. In Yaoi rape has different purposes and to judge a manga with rape needs to look at whether those purposes were sufficiently fulfilled, or if you're more strict, whether the rape was necessary to demonstrate them. In this case I'd say the answer is 'yes'. Their relationship was sex based so that's how they were communicating, the entire basis of their relationship and in this brief look we can see that they don't communicate in other ways. The uke indicates the seme is normally rough after their first encounter indicating the seme has been trying and failing to communicate his affections but the uke isn't getting it. The violence is explosive, demonstrating a loss of control. The seme's face is devastated demonstrating that the purpose of this is loss.

The last word from this manga is that you can be scared of FULFILLING love as you are letting it go. From the way the uke is trying to grasp at his crush at the end and failing, I think the indication is that he's scared to let go of the fantasy of his crush but he's also scared to start feeling things for the seme.

[Apologies for the long post. Please ignore it. This is just me keeping record of what I read & felt]

I have lost count of exactly how many times my heart DIED while reading this creation of Kyuugou. It was excruciatingly intense & rich with dark, distorted emotions. The whole ambiance of this manga - every panel, every strand of hair, each glance, even simply the wind blowing was enough to make me shiver with fear & anticipation. I kept staring at some pages for more than a minute. I thought, if I don't watch them closely & carefully I'll miss something really important. Everything....and I mean E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G in this story from the start to the last line of last chapter gripped & gnawed at my heart.

I have been wracking my brains after finishing it, exactly which brother was more pitiful and here I am sitting in front of my laptop....staring at the wall, for god knows how long. It felt like they were twin brothers cursed by the destiny itself and Kei's words kept ringing in my ears, "why do you think we came into this world separately?" No matter how much I think about, I can't find/imagine a way for Kei's salvation from his path of self-destruction neither could I bring myself to blame Roku for anything.

Among all the incest mangas & other thought provoking, emotionally disturbing psychological mangas I have read so far, Kyuugou crushed it. It's not like she used some complicated difficult words or dramatic scenes. With simple words, simple lines, simple scenes.....she pulled me into her world! As if everything was happening in front of my very eyes in slow motion holographic images & I can do nothing about it but to see them getting shattered & destroyed by their uncontrollable overwhelming emotions. The eeriness of every scene got under my skin & made me recoil with horror & suspense. Still, I couldn't stop myself from getting swept away with each chapter. It's no wonder she dropped it. I mean, I feel like this just after reading it, so I could not possibly imagine what she must have felt while writing those 9 chapters thick with mind-crippling emotions.

Despite feeling compassionate for her I would still pray & hope that Kyuugou sensei would pick it up again one day & write it till the end. Not just because it's a Masterpiece but because I have come to deeply love & care for those miserable characters. And I don't want them to be stuck in a time hole for eternity without a definite closure.

After these latest episodes my perspective on Siwoon has shifted a bit more towards the positive and I'm happy that we have been given a glimpse into Taemin's feelings for Woojin as a child; however, I'm still mourning for poor real Siwon; I guess several of us just can't get over how poor Siwon has been treated as a non-issue in the story when the poor thing was the victim of so much injustice. Maybe those of us that can't get over it should start an association for the rights of Siwon (AFROS), hahahaah! just kidding on the AFROS thing, but I'm serious about my heart bleeding for real Siwon :(

On the other hand, this episode shifted my perspective on Woojin/Siwoon. I was upset for a long time at the fact that Siwoon seemed to have had the resources to find and help Taemin but didn't, and after the latest chapter, I think that he was blocked by several factors, one of which is psychological. Woojin must have been operating from a defeatist mindset after that traumatic episode where he thought Taemin was going to die because of him. It's obvious he was seriously impacted and seemed to have become obsessed with thoughts of worthlessness and not having the resources to protect Taemin; soon after that he disappears. We can speculate that either Woojin precipitated a reunion with his father/grandfather? or that either of them came looking for him right at that moment; whatever the case was, Woojin felt compelled/obsessed to become "someone" and obtain the "means" or resources (wealth, power, etc.) he could use to protect Taemin. It could be he didn't show up before that because he felt he wasn't ready "yet" to offer something substantial to Taemin, and when he was finally ready, it was tragically too late. I have now become more sympathetic towards Siwoon and ship the relationship a bit more. Even though I still can't get over his indifference when watching Siwon's rape video.

Another thing that I really enjoyed about these three last backstory episodes is that we were allowed to look into Taemin's perspective and his feelings for Woojin. Before this, we had a clear understanding of Woojin's feelings for Taemin, hero-worship that turned into obsession and ultimately love; but we had not been given access to Taemin's feelings until now. It's obvious why the children gravitated towards each other as they shared similar abusive backgrounds, even though their personalities were like night and day. But it made me very happy to see Taemin just as obsessed with Woojin as Woojin was obsessed with Taemin. This leads me to believe that Taemin was also in love with Woojin ever since they were kids. I guess we could debate on the substantiality of childhood love, but there's no doubt in my mind Taemin was in love even if he himself didn't realize it then or now, so their feelings were mutual :D...and soon their feelings as young adults promise to be mutual as well. That would also explain why Woojin's disappearance affected Taemin to the point he still resents Woojin and hasn't forgiven him. His reticence in trusting and admitting to Siwoon that he's indeed Taemin is very likely rooted in his resentment for having being "abandoned" by both Woojin and his mom.

I see a lot of my fellow fujoshis/fudanshis harshly criticize/condemn Taemin's mom for abandoning him, and I used to feel the same way. I had no patience or sympathy for mothers that abandon their children because I can't identify with that type of mindset, especially due to possessing an assertive personality, but my perspective was expanded in college through the social sciences. I learned that even though all humans possess the same cognitive framework and many of the cognitive processes, these are ultimately influenced and shaped by our experiences and environment. The cognitive development is different for everyone, with those living in poverty at the losing end. So, the cognitive, emotional, psychological development of those of us that have lived sheltered lives is significantly different from those that have been exposed on a long term basis to poverty and physical and mental abuse. In this case, we cannot judge Taemin's mom based on our own personal sheltered and privileged life experience because our mindset and moral framework could never compare to her's, because we have been socially shaped under asymmetrical circumstances. The truth is that we just don't know how we would react if we had experienced extreme poverty and physical, sexual and mental abuse because our socialization and cognitive processes would have developed differently. I don't agree with what she did, and my heart is broken for poor Taemin, and it conflicts with my opinion that motherly instinct is the strongest human emotion, therefore, how could she have ignored her instincts to protect her son? but in the spirit of fairness I cannot judge her because I have no idea what it feels like to be in her place. The fact she couldn't help touch her son one last time leads me to believe she must have been heart broken, or at the very least, it must have been extremely difficult for her; well, at least that's what I hope for the sake of Taemin. I truly believe his mom loved him. This part is always difficult, my heart can't stand the thought of innocent children being abused. I broke into a thousand pieces during those scenes with Woojin and his mom and Taemin and his dad, I just can't take it!

I know, ultra long post, but this is how much this manhwa affects me, it really makes me ride the feels! (≧∀≦)

Someone once told me that Woo Jin's feelings towards Tae Min is superficial and they were, understandably, not a fan of Woo Jin (issues related to Si Won). One of the major problems with abused children is aggression and cruelty. This is related to two primary problems in neglected children: (1) lack of empathy and (2) poor impulse control. The ability to emotionally “understand” the impact of your behavior on others is impaired in these children. They really do not understand or feel what it is like for others when they do or say something hurtful. Indeed, these children often feel compelled to lash out and hurt others. One of the most disturbing elements of this aggression is that it is often accompanied by a detached, cold lack of empathy. They may show regret (an intellectual response) but not remorse (an emotional response) when confronted about their aggressive or cruel behaviors. This is older Woo Jin after he had to leave Tae Min. You know what can help children like Woo Jin? Nurture. It’s important to be aware that for many like this, touch in the past has been associated with pain. In these cases, you have to carefully monitor how they respond—be “attuned” to their responses to your nurturing and act accordingly. You’re basically providing replacement experiences that should have taken place during their infancy—but you’re doing this when their brains are harder to modify and change. Therefore they will need even more bonding experiences to help develop attachments. Interestingly enough, Woo Jin was able to make a bond with someone—Tae Min, which is why Woo Jin is so terrified of losing him even though it should be clear at this point that Tae Min wouldn’t abandon him. In the end, Woo Jin and Tae Min were separated so Woo Jin’s fears weren’t completely unfounded (considering how important Tae Min is to Woo Jin, we can assume that it wasn’t his choice to leave). Say what you want about their romantic relationship, but Tae Min is very important to Woo Jin and nothing about that is superficial.

ALSO: The brain develops at an incredible pace during the early developmental stages of infancy and childhood. Studies about early childhood development indicate that the brain develops in response to experiences with caregivers, family and the community, and that its development is directly linked to the quality and quantity of those experiences. Meeting a child’s needs during these early stages creates emotional stability and security that is needed for healthy brain development. Repeated exposure to stressful events can affect the brain’s stress response, making it more reactive and less adaptive. Research has found that children exposed to violence or abuse, if left unaddressed or ignored, are at an increased risk for emotional and behavioral problems in the future. This doesn’t excuse anything Woo Jin did (or didn’t) do (concerning Si Won), but it does explain why he is the way he is. Woo Jin is so fascinating because of his many layers, but I was genuinely surprised by Tae Min because he managed to miraculously grew up to be a well-rounded person. We don’t know whether these two got help or not, but I’m betting no.
