It's not exactly that difficult to understand. Basically after every that's happened and how "karma" is coming in to bite him, the emperor is still ignorant AF— truly not worthy to be an Emperor. So Tia's Grandfather want the emperor to appoint a crown prince ASAP because things will only get much harder for the emperor and who knows, he might get poisoned again (and die). Without a crown prince after his death will definitely spark a civil war between 2 fractions (1st vs 2nd prince).

Yeah, exactly. Also, I think making the 2nd prince the crown prince is part of taking revenge on Angenas. If they had just behaved themselves and do nothing, Yovanes probably would have made the 1st prince Crown prince. But because of their greed they lost an empress, a prince and literally a kingdom DUH

I get it. But I am thinking about this in Yohanes POV. A greedy king with loathing for giving up his power. That is why he has been tardy in choosing a Crown Prince (aside from benefiting from two contrasting powers), Yohanes hates the thought of any prince getting a fraction of his power. So if I am Yohanes, still recovering from poison from my wife…another faction pushing me to get a Crown Prince would be like getting poisoned again. Paranoid bitch that I am, my first question would be…is that all you want from me?!?!? My power to be diminished!

But I get it. An empire is only as strong as its succession line. And in this case, Yohanes’ empire only has one claimant, Perez. I get that Lord Rulac doesn’t want to give Yohanes time to ponder this choice and drag the issue of succession.
