Or or, the lady we see, what if she's the lord of carrots... And and and thennn the uke needs carrots, then then, he says "do you have carrots?" and then the seme is like "yes, but you don't need her carrots.." "lemme show you my carrots" holding his hand and taking him behind the shop, showing him a nice beautiful carrot... The most perfect carrot and then they fall in love forever ... End of story

I think some people the missing a key point, since the beginning Sasya greatly trusted Julian who was at first the only who spoke russian.
Julian since the beginning told Sasya the relationship between him and karel was to be treated as a fire he has to keep feeding to benefit himself (aka keep Karel's passion burning for him).
Sasya didn't know any better, even when he slowly started liking karel he will always be reminded of what Julian said "a temporary relationship", so he never felt stable. Adding to that his trauma that sunk into his brain that nothing comes for free. So,
in other words, he was a complete mental mess.
In spite of that, he still truly did love Karel, but again reminded by the past, he couldn't be happy. Since, the only thing he had after Karel was ballet. But, clearly now that isn't enough because he still and have always longed for Karel.
As for Karel, he was handed a bad deck of cards from the beginning. From the very beginning, his intentions were always miss read, leading him to always being lost and confused. Karel's new identity Scar(I forgot:')) I'm probably guessing has some to do with politics or what not ( I may be wrong). But, the fact remains that he truly cared for Sasya. However, due to language barrier, misunderstandings he never exactly knew what Sasya was going through staying with him.
So, when Sasya dipped after Karel was sent to prison for sasya's crime and then to war, which lasted for another 4 years. To Sasya, this was probably as though Karel was telling him he lost his interest in him.( which to Sasya, basically confirmed Julian words about the whole relationship being temporary; [alsooo including all the drinking he did which worsened his physical and mental andddd real time perception]) And finally, U have Karel who, was still waiting to return to Sasya but his letters never reached him, and neither did Sasya's reach Karel. Which honestly L but whatever.
In the end of the day, both of Karel and Sasya are helplessly in love, but are endlessly bound with misunderstandings and pain...(y'all they rlly need a deep talk with eachother)
the way i agree with every word you typed out
I haven’t seen many people here articulate the story the way you did just now. You are 1000% correct and some folks here need to realize that there isn’t a clear person to blame for how things turned out, both Karel and Sasya had issues that needed to be dealt with and obstacles that caused what came about ╥﹏╥ Though atp in the story Karel gotta realize that rape and humiliation just aren’t it
