Alice's Favorite

I'm not sure if this is an anime or manga. Please help. It's about a young boy that is very gifted. There was a test and he was the youngest and the only one who passed. After there test, the elder person took him to the back room, where he started solving all the mysteries the elders were trying to solve. I also remember another scene that he returned home and there was trouble so the lady that did business with the boy helped him out.
