I think they're all equally dysfunctional families in their own way, but poverty is a whole other issue. The second ml's family isn't necessarily miserable because of their privilege, I think their wealth just enables their negative viewpoints and dynamic

Is not like this mom is mistreating him, in fact she's enabling him. To downplay the struggles of the ML and FL cuz they are facing "stereotypical" abuse from their parents to the brown hair dudes overbearing mother is WILD.

I rather have a rich "dysfunctional" family taht feeds and spoils me than an abusive and poor family where I have to worry about getting food and havinga roof every second.

Literally the whole ass storyline is about her suffering from poverty.

I feel like OP meant that brown haired kid’s family behavior is the worst despite being so much well off than the other two and the FL and ML, despite all of their unfortunate circumstances, have a much better moral compass and just in general are better human beings. I don’t think OP meant that brown haired kid “had it worst” as in he’s the most pitiable or something

I don't mean to fight or anything, they all have dysfunctional families. But MC & ML definitely has it harder, considering their poverty situation. But we shouldn't downplay trauma or issues. 2nd ML's mom is a narcissist and cares only about keeping a reputation. Imagine how a child would feel growing up with a parent like that, it would be exhausting. Although we can see how trauma differently affected the three, 2nd ML is turning out to be exactly like his mom while the two are trying to be better. Just because he didn't turn out to be kind doesn't mean that he didn't suffer from abuse but of course that's still no excuse. I think it's lovely how the author tries to portray different situations and how it can affect the characters, be it bad or good.

A lot of issues are comparable though. The OP's comment and yours sound 'All lives matter' bullshit slogan.

Not really. Having a superficial, slightly narcissistic mother does not mean it is a dysfunctional family.
