As far as I can remember, the emperor only shows his face to adult nobles as of now and that only happens when there are meetings. Ever since her wife and her daughter died, the access to the palace has been restricted and security was tightened. There were no banquets (I think) and the emperor doesn't show his face to the public either. He also steer clear away from children. Only Ruska and Arcel are the only children that are allowed to go in and out of the palace and has seen the Emperor personally. So, it's safe to say that the other children doesn't know what he looks like in person. And even if they saw a photo of him, they might not be able to connect the dots because of the situation.
