I think we might just have different ideas of what yaoi can be . There’s plenty of yaoi/BL with actual plots and characterization, so I don’t personally think the genre has to be just an excuse for sexual content.
For me, the bestiality aspect is a big reason the story didn’t really work for me. I actually don’t mind milder animalistic stuff or characters with animal characteristics — that stuff is always gas, I live for it . It’s just when it’s literally a dog with a human that I personally can’t get into

I personally dislike stories in which an animal turns into human just for the sake of the story. I basically consider it zoophilia because there's so many aspects that I lwk think are mainly just kinks and I feel averted to it.
