My first thought is FUCK I CAUGHT UP, and I think that’s one of the mightiest compliments you can give. This is clearly the climax, the progression of the art, the strength of the narrative are clear as day. Something I noticed is that the villages our gang visits on their journey, are progressively in a rougher state than the previous, and it’s a subtle way of showing the long lasting and growing effects of the anomaly. I think I’m astounded by how much better this story’s gotten. Gaiden was good but simple and the prequel was meh, but this story ramped everything up to 11. The characterisations, complex moral quandaries, and the likeable cast just stop me with my foot in my mouth. The prequel set up the issues the world has, and the fact there’s no clear solution to any of them but to continue the journey is both disheartening and hopeful. I’m really happy I picked this up!
