i really wish i liked this more, but it's hard when it's this obvious that the author likes taebum so much more than they do hoyeon next to taebum, hoyeon really lacks any real or distinct personality outside of the ego he's built up around the kind of sex he likes to have. chapters that could have been spent developing hoyeon's character and feelings towards taebum were instead spent on taebum getting toyed with or whatever, and i'm definitely not against reading stories where it's clear the author just wants to draw the couple having a lot of sex, but if you're going to include some plot in it, you should care about developing both leads to a somewhat equal amount.
even now with the end of the 1st season, i am honestly still not sure what taebum likes so much about hoyeon because he did not treat him well and at best he was just a pretty and nice guy back when he was a high schooler. it's also unclear what hoyeon really likes about taebum and what made him change his mind about him beyond "i shouldn't push him away and treat him like this because he likes me." as the audience, we find taebum very lovable, but we only see hoyeon's apprehension towards him most of the time, and we don't really see when or even if he'll change his mind about him. he just decides to stop stringing him along and chooses to treat him better almost on a whim. and seeing the ex pop back up to inevitably cause artificial drama between them when they still aren't exactly together yet is not inspiring feelings of confidence in me that this will get better, but i'll wait and see i guess
i've simply got to understand what made jinpil become this delusional. you're not born thinking this way but were even his parents this batshit insane? yeah he was sexy back then but those days are over so aside from some money (not even the most money, mind you), what does he have now for him to think his opinions on anything are of value over someone else's? people like him are truly a blight on society and destroy everything they touch. so happy jinhyeong told him to get circumcised lmfao
i've read many a badly written story in my time, but this one has got to be up there with some of the worst i have ever read. post 2020s, it is genuinely inexcusable to be writing rape as a means of romantic development between two characters. it is the certified mark of a terrible writer, without fail. you write something like this and you tell me without directly saying so that you don't know what it means to write anything, much less a story. "he's evil because he's a rapist and an abuser; he's innocent because he's naive; he's romantic because he likes makoto." so shallow even a newborn wouldn't be in danger of drowning in it. every single character is fully devoid of personality or compelling (or sensible!) motivations. there are ways to write smut-centric stories without making it miserable for the readers every possible step of the way. i feel like i've been punished for even giving this my time of day.
i'm no believer that every story needs to be some highbrow masterpiece to be worthy of existence, but both the author and the publisher should be embarrassed they put this out in the world for people to look at. if you're considering reading this, i would sooner recommend watching paint dry to achieve the same effect.
