haven't complained about muyeol in a while because i was hoping we would make it make sense and stop involving him in so much of their relationship conflict but i see i was wrong to hope.
i was never expecting this to be the pinnacle of literary art or anything, but i truly do not understand why the author insists on having muyeol be the sole vehicle to get their relationship to move the tiniest bit forward. do they not have any other ideas. did every other person in this universe die? and it's made even more irritating because yechan has never shown muyeol that he is willing to do anything he asks, and he is fully aware that he hates him. nothing he has tried has ever worked, and even if this attempt does work this time, it wouldn't work for long, so he is extremely persistent without a cause. we are seriously circling the drain here. such an odd way to use this character when there are better options. i'm not even really having fun reading this anymore and it's because of him. i'm just exhausted now
I agree, the author clearly showed us how creepy he is in season 1, constantly harassing Yechan which probably made Yechan hate men. We know that bastard sa'd yechan after being drugging, possibly full on rape. He tried to sa Jun after 5 minutes. But since the in between special chapter its like the author forgot this. Like "oh look muyeol bought a val for yechan! See he's a good guy, ill insert him everywhere i can" fuck muyeol
i won't even lie to you, i don't think the author is even trying to redeem muyeol to the rest of us at this rate. they keep inserting muyeol everywhere because *they're* the one who likes him, so to hell with their audience who can't stand him. i don't even have it in me to get riled up about it now. it's just super annoying and it's been 49 chapters of this already. i don't mind any length so long as the story doesn't meander too much, but this is just egregious.
jinhyeong's mother is very beautiful, and it's hilarious that he has her entire face, but i fear that she is also going to hell she didn't participate in the abuse, but she sure did not do her part to prevent it from happening and to mitigate the psychological damage it did. she was the one who reinforced the idea that he makes his father feel ashamed, she consistently defended his father for his behavior by saying he doesn't mean it, and at some point, we literally see her turn her back on him when he's looking for her support. no matter the circumstance, if you abandon your children like that, i will always find that especially cowardly. they didn't ask to be born, and they are the most vulnerable out of all of us, so as a parent, you have to do your utmost to protect them. i really do not think she did enough to defend him while he was still in their house, so while i suppose it's nice that jinhyeong has found it in himself to forgive her for it enough to maintain contact with her, i don't really think she deserves it. what can you do, i guess !

not at all speaking from personal experience (/s) but in non-western cultures, the worth of a man as a husband and father is judged not by how he treats his family, but by what he can provide. this concept is so deeply engrained in culture that women grow up and get married believing that as long as their husband makes a lot of money and checks the boxes for “a good member of society” then that automatically makes them a good father and husband. that is to say, its hard to incriminate jinhyeongs mother because she likely didnt even perceive her husbands behavior as abuse. of course, this doesnt free her from blame because as a parent she still has a responsibility to protect her child, be it from her own husband, but its important to acknowledge that she is as much a victim and a product of a traditionally conservative system as jinhyeong is.
yeah, i completely understand that. i can even agree that she probably didn't think of it as abuse, but it's telling that she's unbothered by the fact that jinhyeong cut him off and that she knew what jinpil was doing was wrong enough to make excuses for why it was okay. i can see her as a victim of a conservative society, but that's my utmost limit. she is still a coward, in the end, the same as jinpil.
oh wow that makes a lot more sense now. in my culture as well, I can see that even when children are abused by their parents, sometimes they don't have it in them to cut their parents off either. I was even watching a Japanese dating show where the kid was being abused all his childhood, but after cutting his dad off and the dad passing away, he wished he could go back to have a relationship with him. I don't really understand it too much (speaking as an American lol), but ur response really opened my eyes to this possibility too.

yeah i'm wrapping this up. it's 2026 and manhwa authors still don't have the guts to stand ten toes on the rape THEY choose to include, they have to exacerbate the issue by telling the audience that we should just be alright with it and it wasn't actually a big deal. not to mention that it feels like the author is setting up something very weird between danwoo and the twin. danwoo is honestly too curious about him, and i really do not get a good feeling from him not drawing a boundary and telling the twin that he isn't allowing further contact just so he can keep talking to him but that it's for hajun's sake. whatever it is, though, i'm not sticking around to find out. it's like the author thinks it should be punishment enough that danwoo beat him up that one time.
this entire thing was wholly unnecessary and ruined a perfectly good story. idk if the author thought we'd get bored or what, but they certainly could've come up with something better than this horseshit. huge letdown.
jinpil is so fascinating to me in how pathetic he is. lived his whole life like a fucking loser and pinned all the blame on jinhyeong even though his son was the one thing in his life that was worth a damn. the way he insists upon desperately clinging to jinhyeong after constantly moving the goalposts on why he didn't have permission to cut him off is both hilarious and frustrating. he claims he did it all so he could be happy, but he was told repeatedly that he's happy now and that still wasn't good enough because he's not happy the way he envisioned lmao. it's crazy. "what about your career! what about your inheritance! well, everything you have is mine anyway! ... can i be a grandparent at least?" like get some psychological assistance TODAY bitch

oh i also want to say i'm proud of jinhyeong too and what he's doing is very brave. he's truly a kindred soul to me and i relate to him a lot; cutting off a parent who has neglected and mistreated you is very hard because there's a part of you that wishes they could learn how to love you! i did it myself this year and you kind of mourn the relationship you could've had if only that parent was a good person. still, i hope he doesn't regret or go back on his choice. it's never been that jinhyeong didn't deserve the luxuries afforded to him by jinpil, it's that jinpil took a good son like jinhyeong for granted and traded him for his pride. he'll have to live with that until he dies.
ugghhh what a goddamn shame, it was going so well before the twin showed up. i knew as soon as we saw that text from the twin saying that he could go to the club that hajoon had a twin but it's so unfortunate that this was the route the author decided to take with this and i really really really hope they don't turn it into some weird love triangle. i'm so sad, this was so good
for everyone who can't remember who this guy is, he was an acquaintance who went to high school with jinhyeong and was a part of the crowd jinpil wanted jinhyeong to hang out with over songrik. jinhyeong saw him again at the previous conference and had a panic attack behind it because it brought up bad memories, so the fact that he's able to face him confidently here shows a lot of character growth!!
