Even though she comes from the modern world, she doesn’t seem to remember much of her previous life besides the book. She has no attachments to that life so it makes sense for her to be “shallow” based on her experiences in this world.

Plus, she had been abused for years. It wouldn’t have made a difference if she remember her previous life considering all the torment she went through. Everything she loved was killed, so she learned to not love anything at all. She has been taught that nothing comes without a price, so she is scared to ask for help. She was raised without love so how do you expect her to give something she never had?

Idk if you’re talking about Valeta or the people of this world in general, but both of them have displayed sympathy. Valeta holds sympathy for (mostly) suffering animals. She doesn’t have much more than that because she was never given sympathy herself. Her guardians have sympathy for her past experiences and are understanding of her because of that.

WDYM “everyone likes her?” That’s just not true. Her servants never liked her, as she was nothing more than a master to them (probably even less). Many people didn’t/don’t like her due to the rumors spread about her. The majority of the magic tower doesn’t like her. And there are probably a few others I missed. At the very least, she is not loved by everyone. That’s a superlative.

“A Mary Sue is a type of fictional character, usually a young woman, who is portrayed as free of weaknesses or character flaws.“ Valeta is shown to have flaws. She has trust issues, she is not a good person and is morally ambiguous and she doesn’t know how to properly care for others. These are all FLAWS?

And, while I usually refrain from insulting people online with bad opinions, did you even read the story? Or maybe you don’t understand what the fuck you’re talking about because at least two of the claims you made here are so incredulously wrong it’s almost laughable.

Please don’t call me baby girl. While I’m not necessarily upset by it, I would rather not be called that ^^ There’s always new stories to experience, but I’ve read quite a few myself. If we’re only counting manhwa, I’d say I’ve read about 200. Maybe even more considering I’ve been reading manhwa for 4-6 years.

I’m not going to say this story is perfect, because it’s far from it. I personally wish we explored Valeta’s fear of attachment a little more, I wish there was more focus on the side characters, and a few more things. It’s just that saying that it’s a bad story or even substandard is just so shockingly wrong.

At the end of the day, everyone is entitled to their own opinions though. I would like to say one more thing before I go off to look at Link Click memes though. I actually love replying to comments like this! Debating online is fun, and there’s even a chance of me changing my opinion. I took time out of my day to type an entire essay because I like doing that!

Personally for me it’s the Count’s secret maid. Would say it’s only because there is some unnatural stuff in My inlaws and this one feels more natural (like yeah in here is also the stuff with the eyes that should not work irl but still)

I personally also have a trouble finding some realistic historical series but if you have’t read I can only recommend Stepmother’s Märchen or Secret Lady, they both have however some kind of supernatural thing going on but in SP ot’s not that much noticible

The first one's great too, but in this case the count's secret maid is better. The feels, the thrill, I love the characters and I cried while reading this.

I think I agree here. I'm only halfway through my in laws but I didn't feel the same way as I felt reading the count's maid. It was the most I cried in a while
