Yaoi fetishizing gay men is a percieved problem, not a real one. Yaoi readers aren't only straight girls. In fact, it originally had nothing to do with men, and was created by queer women to bypass gender roles and explore other types of sexuality. The real problem is that, like most other manga genres, nost content is supremely mysogynistic.
I hate when I tell people I'm single, not interested in marriage or kids. And they reply Oh you'll change your mind, you'll find the right man. BITCH DID YOU JUST HEAR ME... Those are not going to happen. I am not interested in the domestic lifestyle. Leave me the fuck alone.
A lot of these girls are very young and don't know much about gay relationships outside of yaoi. Versus most of us older ones that know that yaoi is fantasy and 95% of it is stuff that rarely goes on in the real world. They're young and don't have any knowledge on gay men or their relationships.
