This entire fuck ass manga feels like really poor disguised ugly bastard/rape fetish. I’ve been trying to get through it to see the main couple happy but it’s not even worth it. Plus he’s just dead? Yea I regret reading this in the first place
it does feel rlly weird i agree. it feels lik softcore (barely) torture porn and always teeters the line. its def a fetish manga i think cuz of the artsyle and how it approaches its topics. i kind of had hope for this but idk it kind of loves punishing its characters and reminding the readers not to hope for more for them. there doesnt seem to be any kind of justice or redemption just a bleak reminder that these characters r at the whims of others particularly th

Seeing the lack of understanding of so many people on how truly good this story is in various aspects is quite frustrating. It’s beautifully written and fleshed out and the trauma responses is extremely accurate: yes it’s disturbing and it makes you sad and uncomfortable and grossed out, but that’s truly how you know it’s a good story bc that’s what it’s going for. They aren’t trying to push a romance possibility with her brother, they’re showing a traumatic assault. It’s a love story, so obviously it will share aspects with other love stories. Seriously how much more original can we get here like, every romance will have similar aspects, it’s a genre for gosh sake. The story of her eating disorder (which is Bulemia btw) and the minute details like the scar on her hand and the fact that the frequency of symptoms waxes and wanes. Amazing. Genuinely this story is beautiful. It might not be everyone’s cup of tea but anyone with a lick of digital literacy will know that this is an amazing story.
Can we talk about how this whole dead king situation just flew right past and shit? It literally felt like a side story or something. That was so incredibly rushed I have whiplash. And then chapter 128 the new translation team hits and it’s just not good. Wtf just happened???? I’m so not happy with this
Now just hear me out. I feel as though this event adds complexity and humanity to his character. Almost all humans are capable of change. It makes sense that the recent events caused him to rethink how he was going about things and apologize for his actions. He wasn’t trying to guilt trip him by telling him their own experience with being less influential people, he was trying to share his experience and why he chose what he chose so that his son could keep that detail in mind and make an informed decision. His father is changing and growing, and the world isn’t black and white. Yes he committed wrongs but he’s working on making up for it and changing. Experiencing an entire shift in how you once functioned and thought is difficult and takes time and patience from those around you. And I like how the author implemented this to make him a more in depth and human character.

I actually originally wrote all of this under someone’s comment here but I’m very proud of my review so here:
I’ve read all 411 chapters. Side note: the translation turns to shit somewhere in the hundreds so I recommend reading all the way till the end of the free episodes on the webtoons app then come back and finish here. The chapters are accurately labeled as well so no worries there.
Why my opinion is even more valid: I’ve read thousands of manga/manwha/webtoons on this website and others (but this one is my fav) for over 15 years and I’ve got relatively high standards and a more than competent comprehension level of art and writing quality (Don’t come for my punctuation stfu).
This manga:
Art: 10/10 - all of the characters are very well drawn and generally proportionate. Most importantly, they’re consistent and accurate to real life. As time passes in the manga you can see the slight but noticeable aging of the characters depending on the factors going on in their lifestyle. Not only that but the art beautifully adds to the writing and exemplifies the feelings that the author intends to portray in each scene. Honestly, I’m afraid of this becoming an animated series because it could never be done justice. Every kind of scene is drawn and processed beautifully, transitions are top-tier, emotion is conveyed perfectly. To top it all off, they don’t sexualize children! (Which shouldn’t be something to praise an artist over but…in this day and age unfortunately it is)
Characters: 10/10 - Each and every character holds meaning. Each and every character feels like a real person with real emotions and motivations. Character growth is basically the main theme of this webtoon and by god does it do it perfectly. This piece can truly make someone who seems irredeemable do a 180 and learn to be a better person. Not through some fuck ass reason but through actual character growth that anyone in real life would actually have to go through. Vice versa, it is acknowledged when someone is genuinely a shit person and has no intentions to self-reflect. And a lot of the time they get what’s coming to them. I love it. All the characters that are involved play wonderful roles. Is there comedy, holy fuck that’s like the main genre along with character growth. And it’s genuinely hilarious. The shit that the author comes up with is actually ridiculous idk how they do it. I’m often finding myself cackling out loud and squeaking in public trying not to make a fool of myself. Romance? Fuck yea dude it’s got that too. But it’s not some bullshit romance either. It’s slow burn, has actual substance, isn’t some misogynistic bullshit, and it’s not thrown around all over the place for no reason. It’s definitely a sub-genre but what’s beautiful is that it fits perfectly into the moments that it’s put in. It’s never excessive, it’s never ridiculously annoying, and it’s never disappointing. So if you don’t like romance genre? That’s actually perfect because it’s done so beautifully that it wouldn’t bother anyone who doesn’t care for romance. If you like romance? Also perfect because it’s so high quality.
Plot: 10/10 - The plot is actually insanely consistent and never strays from its roots. Everything has a reason and a history. The direction things take make complete sense and always keep you captivated. Even though some things seem predictable it still knows how to keep you on your toes, and sometimes throws you way off! There is constantly somewhere for this manga to go but it doesn’t feel like they’re just randomly coming up with bullshit to keep a money bag rolling. Every path taken is genuinely important and adds so much depth and substance to the webtoon as a whole. Sometimes you’ll look at something that happens and you’re going “that makes literally no sense” and then it’s immediately explained and while it can still be absolutely ridiculous, it still makes sense lmao. If you’re ever like “oh but these are loose ends” then TRUST me. They WILL be addressed. Might even be a whole arc of content that you hadn’t even thought needed addressing until they’re in the middle of it and you’re like “damn wait I didn’t even think of that that’s hella important”. On top of it, it still finds ways to perfectly balance the content being given. If it’s all serious serious and info info it will give you a perfect break of comedy and brain tickles of “yay good fight punch hard pretty lights” at the perfect time in the perfect amount. It’s like, literally genius how this has been put together.
World Building: 10000/10 - I have never actually loved the world building of a webtoon so much. Everything makes sense. The scaling of power makes sense and is constantly making you feel at awe. I think that one of my favorite things is ironically what they DONT address. Sometimes when characters cause a ruckus in public without securing a safe space I’m always like “how tf do they deal with the public’s aftermath of this” and I’m ngl they deadass wrap it up with a couple sentences that’s makes you go “honestly yea sure whatever I can see that” and move on. Like, over explaining or diving too much into the world building of what the manga is not centered around can really fatigue the reader with unnecessary info, and the author keeps it a perfect balance of vague to explained. It’s insanely impressive. Literally this whole world makes sense because of the world building. It’s not my strong suit when it comes to description but just take me word for it or whateva.
Overall: 10/10 - After reading so so much over so much time I can confidently say that I have reread this webtoon multiple times and never get tired of it. It is likely in my top 3 all time favorites. I truly adore everything about it and I cannot properly convey how much recognition this piece of art deserves.
TLDR:
It’s perfect, got a mix of everything, and everything is perfectly balanced (as all things should be (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜 )
I'm definitely not reading all this
How could you do this to me ┗( T﹏T )┛
