Also, it feels weird to throw in the doctor assault backstory and Doc Dan previously being a virgin as the thing that finally clicks for JJK that he's an asshole. Like, what he did was bad enough on its own without adding even more tragic backstory to Doc Dan. Wasn't the dude's life depressing enough?
I mean I feel like it would only make sense for Doc Dan to fall for JJk because even though he disrespected DD, he still did take care of him(slightly) like it was probably one of the only other time Kim Dan could rely on someone. He probably has a horrible understanding of what love is like since he’s had such a rough upbringing.
Now as for the weird doctor thing, I feel like it makes a bit of sense to use that backstory since it shows just how much suffering Kim Dan has been through. JJK knew he hurt Kim Dan but only to a certain extent. I think it just put it into perspective for him just how much Kim Dan had been through and how he’s not at all good enough for him. The fact that JJK asked why Kim Dan never told him these things upsets me since he’s never gave DD any space to tell that story. He only ever hurt him and made him feel like a tool.
Tbh I agree with all your points. Like, logically I know this is the first time Doc Dan has experienced any type of "love" or "support" besides his Grandma (if you can even call it that), but I still find it so frustrating because Dan deserves so much better and yeah the story will eventually get to that point where JJk stops acting like a dick wad to him, but the journey to get there...woof.
It also lowkey pisses me off that, even though he's learning to treat Dan better, he's still an aggressive asshole to everyone else like his coach, teammates, that actor dude.
