It's not relatable but it's understandable. I think what Hwa Ik did was actually for the best since it looks like he wants something much more than what they have right now. I think he realized (probably still know) that Yewon still haven't moved on from Ju-eon and I think that's totally okay. She literally spent 2 or 3 years of her 20s being showered by love (yes, I think Ju-eon loved/loves her but the circumstances are just hard to control since as what her wife said, he grew up pleasing and having everything that he wants) but that doesn't excuse his behavior though (absolutely HATE! that he made Yewon felt like she'll be a side chick all her life).
I'm sure Yewon was thankful that Hwa Ik was always there for her especially during the tough times but I think that's the reason why she can't give the same feelings that Hwa Ik wants. She didn't really had the time to process her break up with Ju-eon which probably clouded her mind as their (Hwa Ik and Yewon) built their fubu set up.
It's realistic which is heartbreaking because we know Hwa Ik is at least a good guy if not much better than Ju-eon for stepping back and not forcing himself to Yewon anymore because it's obvious she's not yet in the clear with her feelings to Ju-eon. Yewon was probably embarrassed that she had to somehow force herself to get turned on when she's obviously so depressed just so she could satisfy Hwa Ik back as part of her gratitude for him being there all this time.
