As someone who has been reading yaoi yuri straight stuff since maybe 2018....I have mixed feelings about it
In my opinion, it's yes and no. At the same time that we now have much more inclusive stories, rather than just those with feminine bottoms or more bizarre things like pedophilia and rape, but it also seems like there are now a lot more stories that focus more on sex than romance

It did get worse to be honest most of it is slop, the main ones I enjoy are beefy bottoms or bratty bottoms so maybe that's just a me problem. I think it's because the authors have been doing it for the money and not for the love of the game
Right..There are more diverse troupes these days if u look at old Mangas the cover always got them tiny child like bottoms and huge hunk of a man as seme. It's so off putting even if the story is great I kinda skipped a lot of them old ones because of this. And aside from that there is a lot misogyny as well i think somewhere sprinkled in the older ones cheating bf or a play boy dude who treated women in his life badly until he met his current bf AND also the feminization of the bottom position like I have seen in few Mangas back then where the couple decides who to be bottom this inferiority thing pops up and it's like ugh it's just dick in the ass brah
True, unfortunately we still can't really say that things have changed that much. I think they've just evolved, since the bottom usually still can't switch positions in most stories because they're supposedly the "more feminine" one, even though their body is way more masculine right now. This actually reflects a lot of the way women are portrayed as submissive in society. The bottom is usually the more emotional one and is treated as "the woman" in the relationship, while also being poor, dependent on the top, and so on. It pisses me off!!
