Roger's real name probably has to be Rose. Why else would they mention the original Otis' deceased brother? I'd bet the original otis did something that killed or fucked over 'Rose', Rose came back as a demon because of intense human desire (that was mentioned in the story), and thus here we are.

Im like days late from this comment, but that was my exact thought! This probably had something to do with Neil Otis and his younger brother.
