the translator puts out fake uploads first and then later the real chapter so that aggregators (like this site) rip the fake one instead. they upload directly onto dynasty-scans and m@ng@dex (both fan-translated reader sites that don't allow official/licensed chapter leaks [like this site]) so just read there. SuBLime has recently published vol 1 and 2 in english under the name "The Dragon's Betrothed". I doubt any group is going to pick it up now that its licensed in english but it doesn't matter anyways because its still on hiatus, so its not just english fans waiting. There are only 2 volumes out in Japan. btw use mangaupdates for this type of info
it's crazy how a mangaka can literally title their work as "Shota x Oni" and some readers will STILL convince themselves that it's not a shotacon. If you were actually uncomfortable then why would you keep reading? why would you read it in the first place?? "the manga is innocent but the author is bad!!" are you stupid? like genuinely?

no but seriously the canada and 20 years shit was so contrived. it was literally just to force “the nephew reuniting them again” plot. it was so unbelievably dumb. there was no reason. they didn’t even leave on bad terms. gene kept in contact with KAREN but couldn’t even be bothered with his “god”. the characters themselves can’t even come up with a single reason they couldn’t visit or call or send a single postcard. literally at the end being like “huh I guess there was no reason” like WHAT???? HUHHHH?
“nooooo we have to break up for the plot to work cmon” also why canada specifically? I kept thinking gene was gonna go back to the amish village instead bc that’s what he was mourning the entire manga. literally “homesick this” “I miss my family and village that” but then ???? canada. what was the point of all that then? his poor brother wtf.
he already abandoned his loved ones in the amish village to make a name for himself and regretted it but then he does it all over again with trevor (the fucking church scene????) for literally no reason bc he was already making a name for himself as a model. he doesn’t even have specific dreams that he was striving for to sympathize with and doesn’t even seem satisfied with his choices at the end. character development WHO? it was very unsatisfying and confusing especially to jump randomly from “soulmates love of my life” to “not even a postcard sent” with no explanation.
it seems like a central theme in this manga is “abandoning your loved ones for no reason and then not having the balls to reconcile yourself even though you know they’ll welcome you back with open arms” which might’ve worked as a lesson that they LEARN from and correct. or even keeping the “needing outside influence to reconcile” part of the theme might’ve worked if trevor had forced gene to go back to the amish village like I though he might after the runaway kid incident where afterwards gene admits to trevor that he’s been missing his home-village still. no but the author’s true message as literally stated by the characters was actually that “you don’t have to be sure about anything” quite hamfisted tbh. and why did they have to break up again for that message? oh yeah just so the nephew can have the chance to reunite them. plot, amiright?
I kept expecting them to talk it out at the end after their reunion and ask each other why they didn’t try to contact or give the reader any sort of explanation but NOPE. I really do wish that gene had died like many readers theorized instead bc that would at least make sense and it would have been more satisfying.
