also, what is up with the CONSTANT romanization, fetishization, and sexualization of rape in asian (specifically korean) bl content ???? like this is continuous theme in like 80-90% of the bl manwha I’ve read throughout the years. I’ve had the fortune of reading a couple that were complete green flags and beautiful stories with not a single shred of any of those themes, but that’s about the remaining 10-20%. It’s genuinely boggles my mind how often and reoccurring these themes are in just about every manwha I’ve read. Now, i can’t speak for others reading experience because this is just mine (obviously) but it’s still very concerning on why it’s such a continuous trend in their content.
Agree. Also, I can be certain that the same coercion/rape romantization happens in BL/yaoi mangas/japanese works; been reading them before the manwha wave became popular. Do not certainly know about why as not being japanese or korean, it might not give one the full picture or knowledge within said cultures or understand their native languages for a better comprehension on how to interpret their primary sources for such constant behaviors within their entertainment media again and again.
One thing that I saw trying to give some context within Japan was that "no" does not nescessarily mean "no". Per say using heterosexuality, courtship was mostly where the man was constantly persisting on the woman to accept him until she finally obliged. She had to deny, deny, deny, and that was not seen as a complete wall for the man to give up. Even a playfulness was conceptualized and normalized where literature works pictured it as a part of the courtship deal (plus with homosexuality, the "wakashu" existed where they were young men also being pursued by said previous methods, alongside the angle of being subservient/following the orders of their older and/or powerful male pursuers aka where male students engaged in sexual acts with their masters/teachers if said authoritative figures wanted to/obliged them to with minimal pushback). Therefore, one might notice how within manga works where most authors are japanese women, that previous conceptualization on what true romance is supposed to be like, their preconceptualized & normalized ideas illustrate their many depictions of coercion or rape as just one step to built the romance between their characters. Notice how many dialogues are always with the ukes/the receivers saying no, no, no; but the semes still continue their attempts? Sometimes with no guiltyness or self-awareness to redempt on such acts? Just a brush off run of the mill common behavior to be ultimately rewarded for true fullfilling "love"? Then, it is another rabbit hole with the "Tale of Genji", one of the first prominent japanese literature works where "incest-not really incest", grooming, and pedophilia was depicted/romanticized.
@STOPEATINGMYSOCK Idk if your parents taught you that's it's disrespectful to ignore someone who's talking to u, but that's fine... Also I'm not quiet sure why you blocked me, coz someone said I'm a bad person? How old are you???? T0T anyway. We love the story and we're both here to enjoy it!!

this is SCREAMING heir to a famous mafia clan/family. They let him have a semblance of normalcy being at school, making friends, and whatnot, but now it’s time to step up and become head of the clan… etc etc. This going to be good tho
