What you're doing is essentially silencing anyone who doesn't agree with the story's poor writing and awful mishandling of a "romantic" and sexual relationship. Whether there was any information that I got wrong in my rant, it's irrelevant to the core issue:

Riftan is a terribly written protagonist who drags the story and the heroine significantly because of his insufferable attitude and lack of any meaningful character development. No amount of sad, tragic POV sob side stories will ever justify his non-existent character arc.

The man went from "My wife is a woman I must dot on. She is frail, needs a lot of care and lived a life of luxury. I must procide everything I can for her to feel confortable, I must buy all the riches in the world for her, she should have nothing to worry about" to "My wife wants to learn magic, she wants to heal people, now she wants to accompany me to the battlefield, now she has to sleep in mud, take a bath every three days, eat soldier's food, now she wants to fight Monsters, now she injured herself gravely". The man gave her the freedom she wanted , very reluctantly, yes. But THAT is a character development

If that is your standard for character development, then it's no wonder fans continue to support Riftan despite his clear like of meaningful behavioral change. Keep in mind, this "development" does not happen until the *very end* of book 2. I'm talking the final chapters, lol. To each their own, but no, him reluctantly giving in to his wife's stubbornness is not character development. He never takes accountability, never truly apologizes for ever doubting competency, and only allows her freedom because he knows Maxi will just rebel against him anyway.

Well of course it might appear slow. But you must also take into account the timeline. At that time, women did not have any say in anything except taking care of the household and looking pretty. Look at Maxi's father for instance. For their timeline, his behavior regarding his daughters is absolutely normal. Beating, hitting, striking and silencing their women/daughters is supposed to be the usual. Princess Agnes, same. She is not the heir so she has a little more freedom, and fortunately, she was also gifted with powerful magic. But the king also wanted to wed her without much of her consent.

So what I mean is, when we talk about character development, we must take into account a lot of thing. We cannot expect a medieval man to act like a modern man. Riftan already conceded a lot of things and that matters. I mean please, the man was not ready for this. His wife in the mud, bleeding like she has gone through hell? He already feels like he is a nobody, like he will never be worthy of her, and that is really the absolutely strike for him. So we cannot hate him for feeling protective

I don't understand why people are complaining about the translations on here, it's pretty much perfect!! I've literally read some, where the translations were so bad that I could barely understand any chapter and was mostly relying on the spoilers to understand the story. at least in this one where I can fully understand and know what they are saying, and the text isn't too small so I don't have to strain my eyes reading it.(๑•ㅂ•)و✧

No bc everyone mad at ML for trying to kill Dietrich indirectly is missing the fact that FL is CONSTANTLY obsessing over Dietrich??? Like she is saying his name during bedroom time, completely ignores ML in favor of him EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. whilst she claimed she loved him, strung along a CHILD before he had his memories back and got WITH said child she raised (idc if he memories back- he was still a kid and did not have them back until after the war) she used him, abused him, ignored him, all while KNOWING he was a little cooky and then got pissy when she knew fully well she had been manipulating him just as badly. THEN she tries to justify not caring for her son bc he looks like ML??? She is SICK. And imo at least ML has his priorities straight and means whatever tf he says regardless of how fucked up he is in the head- FL continues to delude herself and take advantage of everyone aroubd her- if Dietrich was not married when he came back she would have slept with him 100% and i bed she still wanted that form of comfort bc thats the wacko bitch she is.

Like of course he is going insane when you literally use him as an inanimate object whilst always crying for Dietrich???? Of course he hates him when you literally ignore him unless he is doing something for you or you need him to do something for you? She built that man. However fucked up he was to begin with he is 100x more fucked bc she raised him to be someone who only looks at her and is desperate for her attention because she neglected him in favor of one specific other person!!

Fr I agree 1000% with what you've said. She's grooming ML from day 1. From his past life he's not that crazy but FL made him that obsessive. She's the one that destroyed the relationship between Dietrich and ML. From the flashback of the ML he's really respected and cared Dietrich but fl made him hate that poor guy. Idk man I've dropped this once but I came back because of vtt but now I think I'm gonna stop for a while reading this. Time to reread how I become a princess and heal myself with their cuteness and fluffy daddy's love story ヾ(❀╹◡╹)ﾉ~
