The story keeps getting deeper and deeper specially when the talk between anita and regina on theor's bday. That conversation was so surprising that it scared me cuz anita was speaking facts?? i never would have guess that they were called mages before plus the way she expressed the definition of extinction still amazes me... cant believe i dropped this story so glad i picked it up again

Definitely, and Ruby has to go along with everything he says and does, that's why she has to act all happy around him all the time. If at any moment she doesn't agree with him, gets upset, or says the wrong thing he punishes her, either physically harms her or does some fucked up psychological shit. And she has to walk a thin line around him too cuz the tiniest things will set him off. He's just a fucked up individual.
He’s a big part of the reason why our girl acts out traumatized and scared. Like we saw in the horse stable when she got the whip thing in chapter 15 & 16. Also he isolated her from everyone to make her heavily reliant on him.
