The intent doesn't excuse the actions. His actions hurt Pascal and people around him. and the worst thing here is his intent itself wasn't just 'he wanted to be with Pascal', he wanted to be the ONLY one he could turn to. That's obsession and it was hurting the mc in many ways. losing his sense of himself and his art being the main thing. Here the harm he caused to Pascal matters, especially when he was doing it knowingly and repeatedly.
