l've always had this issue with Omegaverse and it felt like no one else has this issue with it besides me so l thought l'd share my opinion on here and find out if anyone feels the same or if it's just me. When Homophobes usually complain about Homosexuality something that they often bring into this conversation is that gay people can't reproduce. Homophobes usually say because gay people can't have kids together it's unnatural and that people in a relationship need to be able to have kids. For some reason it feels to me like Omegaverse feeds into the Homophobia by making an Alpha&Omega relationship and that only they can be together because it's natural and they can reproduce. I don't know if there are omegaverse Manga were an Alpha&Alpha or Omega&Omega are together but all this kinda feeds into the Heteronormativity and defeats the point of having a gay relationship anyway because there's this kinda need to be able to reproduce again.
And then there is the huge consent issue. But the whole because of my urges I couldn't control myself is rubbing me the wrong way.
I know that I'm probably reading too much into it but I just wanted to know if anyone besides me thinks so too.

I will never understand why straight female authors create BL when their target audience is mostly female. We will still support your story as long as it has a good plot even if it is not BL, especially if the problem is that the readers may perceive your work as heteronormative, which could have been avoided if you went straight from the start, it does not have to be gay #MAKE_IT_STRAIGHT #STRAIGHT_PEOPLE_ARE_PROFITABLE_TOO
Leave this genre alone, let gay people do whatever they want, and may they finally get the representation they want. JOIN ME!!!

The first ever Omegaverse ever to be made was actually a fanfiction about the two brothers from American TV series Supernatural. It derived from the facets of werewolf mythology and the concept of an alpha being dominate over a smaller omega. So based from this premise it’s really just a means for a straight fan to fantasise about 2 same sex characters and giving a reason for their passion (heat and rut) and existence (reproducing to keep the species and dominate traits alive) without stepping into homosexuality. Interestingly, Yaoi is predominantly made by women for women and Bara is mostly made by male mangakas for men. So there is this unique trend towards homosexuality being romanticised by straight women and thus omegaverses give that men on men relationship portrayal that mirrors a straight relationship without women being objectified, personified or otherwise jilted at seeing another woman portrayed in a relationship with the ML. There was some interesting discussion on another site regarding straight girls that read BL being overly critical of every single female lead in straight Manhwas and showing an inability to be unbiased readers when self projecting themselves onto the FL in the stories almost as if they were threatened or expecting more from them. There’s tonnes of research papers about young female readers and the BL manga world and the significance of Japanese, Korean and Chinese traditions and expectations of unmarried young women in society and how BL was preferred over the usual rape plots that were used as a device for excusing the sexual relationship between unmarried couples in manga and manhwa/manhuas.

I’m not sure what gender the characters had but the story was about the main characters who lived in an abusive situation. The main character meets the antagonist who offers him to kill the abuser in exchange that the main character has to kill someone for the antagonist. The main character agrees and the abuser gets killed but the main character doesn’t return the favor and the antagonist turns into a stalker
