the term itself will never be derogatory, it’s shitty people that make it seem like it is.

I have classmates who say “that’s gay” to everything. Like they mess up a math question, then say “ugh that’s so gay”. They say that whenever they mess up, do it kinda sends the message that they think gay people are messed up, or are doing something messed up? They treat being gay like a joke.

Then, I just love this, they post “gay rights” and “support lgbtq+” “sexuality isn’t a choice being homophobic is!”. They post that on their Instagram stories while acting homophobic themselves. It goes to show you that they just treat it like a trend. It’s trendy to “support” lgbtq.

I’m gay and even I don’t post gay rights in my stories 24/7. Maybe during pride month but that’s usually it. I mostly just repost memes.
