x/2 = 8 is basically 8 x 2 since fractions are just division problems (hence why, say, 2 3/4 would be 11/4 [4 x 2 = 8 8 + 3 = 11] as a mixed fraction).
So if 8 • 2 = x, it makes things wayy easier. 16 = x gives us the answer!
16/2 = 8, and we can double check this by dividing or reasoning (if you're solving this during a test) that 16 is an even number and 2 is the root of all even numbers, therefore you're probably correct!
In a nutshell, flip the equation around to its opposite (division and multiplication | subtraction and addition) to find out x, then slap your answer in after solving. When questions are structured like this and you get the hang of things, it becomes easy to do it in your head and run through your paper. Hope this was comprehendible! ლ(´ڡ`ლ)
