as much as i love studio cabana i do have to admit that they're low-key dragging it now. we've seen a lot of yuusuke's development, how he builds relationships within the band and how he has a healthier mindset when it comes to songwriting and singing now, but.... what about maki? i feel really bad for her, honestly. I understand that the both of them are the protagonists and that this is yuusuke's 'arc', but i dont feel like they properly resolved whatever happened and what she experienced. and when they do, it's just... "I'll work harder so i can become worthy of yuusuke-kun!", or its about her academics and her future goals and not her feelings or mental health too? UGHHH it saddens me to see that she still has self image issues and the slightest bit of insecurity from that festival chap where haruki intimidated her my gawd that bi—, anyways, point is, i agree that they're treating one of the main characters like a side character, maybe even like a support character since she's basically yuusuke's support system now (dang) and i guess the author is showing that this is mainly yuusuke's story.... It's very reminiscent of old 2000's shoujo, w the pacing and the plot lolol ig that's why i cant stop reading it! the first half was genuinely amazing but now idk where they're going with it (makes sense, the first arc was written decades ago so it's well prepared, but now the story is their own new writing so we'll just see how it goes.) even w all these nitpicks i have, tho, i can't wait for the anime adaption...! I hope they'll actually treat it well T.T
It's been 2 years since we started this arc and the progress has been especially slow lol I get it, the releases have been dire and I don't particularly mind that - ONLY if the story can develop tastefully. And unfortunately, the manga is falling a little short with this arc. We can very much have a Yuusuke arc without having to put Maki on the sideline here. She's also the main lead and is as much an arching character as Yuusuke. I feel for Yuusuke's character and root for his development but not at the cost of losing the female counterpart's own story and development. It's crazy because even the actual side characters like Andou are getting more attention in this arc than Maki herself. I mean, we even had Maki's birthday happening during this arc and you'd think that such a special event for the FL would have some attention..and even THIS was moved along like nothing. And even on her birthday, the attention was swiftly turned to Yuusuke with her greeting him a late birthday lol
It's a shame that the author has put Maki in the backburner in this arc. Hopefully, the story progresses better from here on out.

i wish they continued this spin-off.... the story has been so serious lately and there's barely any time for the slice of life they usually went for so i was hoping there'd be some fluffy content after all that hellish torture of the characters but it's reasonable esp bc of aidairos recent hiatus but hopefully they decide to pick this back up again!
