I honestly still can’t believe that this is the same author as behind the desks (that one wholesome cute manhwa HAHAHAHAHA OMGG)
It’s like “our lives are messed up beyond repair, let’s be together” kind of trope done perfectly instead of the stereotypical “uke is drowning in debt so seme comes in to save him” trope
Kidding aside, I love how this manhwa isnt centered in romance but in action, how it critiques social structures, and how everybody embodies human greed cuz they want to climb up the ladder with that
capitalistic mindset???
But behind those motives are literal human beings at the bottom of the social hierarchy making ends meet even if it means having to break the universal standards of morality cuz life just wont stop making them miserable
i know this is effed up but it showcases how some parts of theworld functions like this-to keep some societies thriving, to keep the economy right on track.
It's so sad, it's so raw, most importantly, it's so human. What a masterpiece
I just didn’t like the smut scenes especially the parts with but omg the main plot literally can be on the same level of a kdrama, this is SO GOOD I SWEAR I’m glad I stomached the first season and went through the 118 chapters, though a bit scathed, the ending was done PERFECTLY!! It was so symbolic like the chess game in that abandoned house and how everything was answered in the end. It wasn’t rushed, characters were fleshed out, and the thoughts that this left me were somewhat of a wake-up call because the world literally functions like this. Corruption, prostitution, the social class divide destroying people’s moralities and passions in life—all of these sensitive topics were told so beautifully. I still yearn the version of Je-oh who could’ve lived a normal life for that single butterfly effect.
The necessary triumph of evil is when good people do nothing.
And those good people aren’t even good to begin with. This manhwa hits me so hard because corruption is so prominent everywhere, it’s channeling something inside me that I have to step up and stay true to my own values. I have so many words to express my awe in this manhwa. It’s one of my best reads this year!

I WANT TO SEE THE PART WHERE ADRIAN WILL GO CRAZY BECAUSE HARPER WILL FLY TO LA FOR LIKE A WEEK AND HES GONNA BECOME THAT “I MISS YOU I CANT DO THIS ANYMORE” KIND OF BOYFRIEND TRYING TO KEEP IT TOGETHER WITH THE LDR RELATIONSHIP EVEN THOUGH IT’S ONLY 1 WEEK AND WHEN HARPER GETS BACK THEY WILL HAVE THE MOST AMAZING NIGHT OF THEIR LIVES JKKKKK

Yijae literally lost everything, I feel so bad for him and for everyone in this story… Gosh this story BROKE ME in the worst ways possible, there’s a part of me hoping that yijae and minyoung would end up together but that’s just as effed up as the current ending. ML got what he deserved,, but at what cost? It hurts me so much that it’s a bad ending for everyone except for the directors brother…

All of the characters literally had a bad ending except for the director’s step brother, he got what he wanted which was having the director out of his life.
I honestly can’t fathom everything in this manhwa,, :(( but I appreciate the plot as it’s unconventional and not the typical “abuser gets with abused” trope,, I’ve grown to appreciate the psychological aspect of this story but I am in a dire need of happy shounen ai stories where the main characters live happily ever after
