Can someone give me a quick rundown on what's happening in season 2? I literally just cannot understand what's going on sorry all I know so far is that Misao has forgiven Sae and Sae is attempting to kill Misao's parents (???). I also just don't understand how Sae came back because last I remembered there was like a weird robot lineage thing that ended, but even if she were just another robot copy, why is she still fixated on Misao and not another girl?

Damn ok well there's a LOT to unpack and explain for s2 that hasnt been uploaded on here yet so be completely sure that u or any1 who reads this is sure that u truly want the spoilers but here it goes ╮(￣▽￣)╭ (u prob didnt expect a long ass paragraph srry. I tried my best to give a simplified and easier explanation to this and i lowk suck at explaining things so if things don't make sense just tell me T-T)
Basically this new 'sae' is actually a very distant cousin and a carbon copy that the last sae from s1 had no idea about, neither both of them actually knew that they had a secret cousin. This is because the last last sae had a twin and they were separated from each other by birth. One twin had lived with the maki family and their corporation, continuing the maki family's generational tradition/practice. On the other hand, the other twin was initially meant to be killed out the maki family because only 1 sae was meant to be, but from what i can remember, this twin had an acting father who was made to take sae's newborn twin and leave everything behind together, far away from the family and corporation to a small, unknown town/village in the countryside of Japan. Things took a turn and the father eventually developed a messed up incestual relationship with the twin and ended up getting her pregnant with who we know now, is the cousin and replacement of s1 sae. She grew up with a single father, not knowing crap about the 'Saes' and her multiple carbon copies. I think she even had a different name but I forgot. She had no clue about the family nor the corporation. And had little to no knowledge about her father's background and her mother's (the twin) background. This is because her father would NOT tell her anything at all and was very manipulative, making her completely rely on him and become naive and stupid abt everything when she truly wasnt. While her distant cousin on the other hand, was an attractive, beautiful, crazy, and obsessive sadist who preyed on girls like Misao, she grew up quite the opposite. She was unattractive, unfit, anti-social, bullied and ordinary (basically the opposite of everything her cousin was). why? Because of her selfish, ignorant, manipulative father. She was naturally meant to be like all the other saes but her father used all his power in every single aspect of sae's life to prevent her from becoming who she was, because he believed this was a way to protect her. So this sae was in complete reliance to her father on everything, believed everything he said no questions asked and was isolated away from the real world, only ever living in a world with her and father in it. She had only 1 friend but thats a whole other plot of s2. Long story short, when s1 sae died, the whole maki family bloodline was completely erased. destroyed off this planet. S1 sae is replaced by S2 sae (aka her cousin). How? Well, a key servant of the maki family somehow survived. She took s2 sae from the father and killed him in order to revive the maki family and start over. S2 sae had to take extreme measures of training basically to become who she was now and replace her cousin. In every generational sae, there's this video device implant in their body which records everything each sae does/experiences in their lifetime. This information helped her to learn every single mannerism of s1 sae in order to replace her. She had to change her body like sae. Change her style like sae. Change her name to sae. and learn and learn and learn. Copy and copy and copy. Train and train and train. Until eventually, she became HER. Only taking her less than a year to do all of this because she suddenly became very motivated to do it all so quickly because of MISAO. She found out about her via the video records and photos. She made it her ultimate goal of finding this Misao Kuniki again and getting her. She wasn't focused on any other person at all. Only herself and Misao because just like s1 sae, she became obsessively infatuated and inlove with Misao. Possibly even more. And knowing the fact that Misao was still out there, alive and doing well, she made it her priority to go THAT far and plot/prey on Misao. SO, here she is now, even crazier and more psychotic. we're back to square 1.
and btw this isnt even half the plot in season 2 i thinks its only like a quarter or less but it def pays a significant and essential part playing a huge role on such complex chatacter. theres still sm to know since there was a lot of hidden characters frm season 1 that only now gets revealed.
