Art is ok at best but damn the story is boring. Has potential but the execution and the insufferable evasion of not letting us the full picture until who knows when (and probably an meager and generic plot twist device at best) just ended up creating a whole lot of nothing and i cant even hate it because i hate myself more for telling myself maybe theres potential and ending up wasting my time l.
Honestly, at the end of it all, I just really felt bad for Taesoo.
Their story just could’ve been a big what if. In the end, he lost the love of his life and his only safe place because he couldn’t muster up the courage to be true to himself. In a lot of ways, that happens to a lot of people. So imo he’ll have to live the rest of his life knowing he wasn’t enough for the love of his life and that he was a coward (because that’s what I’d think if I were in his situation and seeing his inferiority complex).
Is it just me or were the 2nd couple infuriatingly annoying? Yeah, when they got together (after all the bullshit drama) it was fun and all, but man their drama was so unnecessarily annoying) and it ruined the manwha for me :( like yeah yeah, the bottom has issues but I just wanted to slap him to get some common sense in him.
(yes I know im the problem)
BRO, US???? LITERALLY??? I was almost screaming on the top of my lungs everytime he disregarded Dalguk over his own indecisiveness. Like "sir? You're just pulling drama out of your own ass now." I do understand where he came from, but there's a difference between understanding and tolerating. Probably worth it for dalguk, who waited for Yeonan, though I do kinda wish he pushed a little too.
Right??? Totally true on the diff bw understanding and tolerating because by the end of it (when they finally got together) I was sadly rooting for them to be apart bc dalguk deserved better. Alas, they were somewhat cute when they got together (which we got like…. 5 chapters of???????) and nobody can un-convince me that the bottom didn’t have a smth smth for dalguk’s brother.
At least the main couple was cute.
I think the creator of the webtoon did a really good job showing how relationships actually work—how the decision-making can sometimes look irrational, especially when people are young and inexperienced, and emotions are running high. Both Nan and Guk clearly have really strong feelings for each other, and those feelings sometimes push them into making dumb choices or interpreting things the wrong way.
What I like is that the creator also shows why they make those choices. For example, Nan’s whole family situation makes it hard for him to believe in permanent love, even though he secretly wishes for it. That insecurity explains why he struggles with dating it actually makes a lot of sense.
I’d even say Guk is the more irrational one in this dynamic, because loving someone to that level borders on obsession. That’s maybe the most unrealistic part of their relationship. The webtoon tries to explain it by saying Guk is the type who, once he likes something, doesn’t want anyone else to touch it. That’s how we’re supposed to understand his attachment to Nan, but honestly, it feels like there should be more to it. We get glimpses of reasons for his obsession, but never the full picture, and that’s the only thing I really felt was missing.
Nan, on the other hand, is a really compelling character. And honestly, I find it strange that you interpreted their relationship as Nan being ‘annoying.’ If you actually think about why he does or doesn’t say certain things, and why Gook sometimes stays quiet too, it becomes pretty clear. it’s obvious if you really read into it, you might want to give it another reread.
Personally like I said, understanding him didn't mean synpathising with him. Honestly, I'm a puckered for understanding psychology and you're right, yeonan was written very well, his actions showed his past and why he believes what he does. But most likely were feeling this way because the happy chapters we got were too.... little, compared to the drama we saw.
Second, past trauma doesn't equal poor communication, that should've been the first thing yeonan would've desperately grasped onto, especially after he's been through trauma that was built with misunderstandings and personal views.
But to each their own views I guess, you're not wrong on your part either.
