the other comment is lying, this doesnt get better. if you tried to continue reading for a satisfying revenge or redemption on the duke, it doesnt happen. the duke doesn't ever apologize, and the one time he actually recognizes even a little of his abuse was when the FUCKING FL SAID "erm stop projecting" WHEN BOTH THE MC AND THE ML ARE ALREADY ADULTS. DO YOU HEAR THIS?? DUKE IS ABUSING HIS SON EVEN INTO ADULTHOOD. AND THE FL NEVER DOES ANYTHING TO STOP IT EXCEPT ONCE, (mind you, this is when the duke does something DIRECTLY to the FL, thats the only time the FL can be fucked to try and stop the abuse), AND EVEN THEN, THE DUKE DOESN'T APOLOGIZE TO THE SON HE ABUSED, HE JUST STOPPED THE ABUSE HE WAS DOING JUST THEN. and the FL forgives him, in fact the FL sees the duke legitimately as her father and shows him love.
