Idk bout you but I know someone in college who can't read and don't know that there is a knee bone and chest bone, even more doesn't know that there are 3 holes in a female sex organ, even more they were biologicaly female and in a medical course in college LOL

yeah sure not everybody should know every random anatomy fact but that’s completely different than not knowing who can biologically get pregnant those are not even remotely the same level to me

Idk about you but I know a friend of mine who didn't even know where babies came from when she was a freshmen in college, let alone what sex is and a male friend of mine who didn't even know the difference between female urethra, vagina and anus .... Some people just grow up sheltered like that

I’m confused what point y’all are arguing against I never said people in real life can’t be uninformed or sheltered. I know those people exist. But first, I was talking about FICTION and why I personally found the character frustrating to read. Second, even bringing up real people doesn’t really change my point? If someone genuinely reaches adulthood not knowing basic anatomy, I’d still think that’s concerning, not proof that the writing suddenly works. Existing in real life ≠ automatically making it believable or enjoyable to read.

Saying “it’s fiction” doesn’t really address what I said. I’m not saying that the author can’t write it or that it can’t happen because it’s fictional. I’m criticizing the writing. The character lives in that universe, so if reproduction works a certain way in their world, a grown adult not knowing basic reproductive knowledge in their own society feels unbelievable to me. Internal logic still matters, even in fiction. Saying “it works because it’s fiction” is defending the fact that it exists, not responding to my criticism of it. Those are two different things. The author can write whatever they want, and I can still think it doesn’t make sense, isn’t coherent within its own world, and made the story less enjoyable for me.
