Gaah been reading for a while and it's veen bothering me- I think my whole problem right now is with the portrayl of Suah's toxic behavior and the reason why everyone's feelings are so mixed right now
the story is written in a way that makes Juhyeok seem like the one who's over-reacting and selfishly taking advantage of Suah's feelings (or at least that's how it felt like it was being written). Then the story likes to switch to Suah's POV where he is victimized and shown how sad and hearbroken he is, making his scenes look unjust that his feelings are being taking advantage of (despite it being HIS DOING IN THE FIRST PLACE- IT WAS ALWAYS ABOUT SUAH'S FEELINGS AND NEVER JUHYEOK'S IM TIRED OF HEARING ABOUT THEM).
We all agree this is toxic and wrong but it feels like the story itself doesn't realize how wrong it is? Like- if we take away the drawn atmoshphere, all the blush and change the panel framing, strip it all back, the rape in ch 19 would read a lot more horrificly when you're left with the dialouge because the dialouge itself is actually so sickening (for me, it already felt horrific the way that this is literally the same kind of tropey and violent SA scene put in yaoi stories to show that a person is evil and the MC needs to be saved by the ML- except there's no one to save Juhyeok here)
Ch 19 the whole time Suah was ignoring all of his pleas, forcing himself and doing what he wanted- when Juhyeok gave in and started begging because he couldn't handle it anymore and Suah said "good boy", i highkey felt myself getting violent why tf are you smiling like you're getting rewarded for all your hard work. i love praise in my bl manhwa but this was NOT it. Literal years of doing whatever the hell he wanted in the guise of love and because he had power over him to do so, all being pushed to its extreme here. At least that silver fox had the courtesy to not cross a line he knows he shouldn't and even said in text 'forcing people is not his style.' how ironic
If you read it just for the smut, power to you cause I do agree the art is so fantastic. I just feel like im being ragebaited by the story cause I love Juhyeok so much yet we have to pretend that he's the one in the wrong here
I get what you mean, except, from chapter one I never felt that Juhyeok was over-reacting. It has been the fans who victimized the abuser and villainized the victim.

I’m someone who’s biased towards characters that are bombastic, energetic, and over-the-top so I love Juhyeok as a character and love following the story for him specifically. I did want to make sure tho so I went back to reread it with a more objective view and without my pretty-art, rose-tinted glasses out of the way just in case and I started noticing more story habits I didn’t before because the art was so good??
Chapter 4/5 Juhyeok is more embarrassed that he didn’t notice he was getting scented this whole time and how he was being protected by alpha pheromones? And when he actually get’s angry, the artstyle masks it by turning comedic. And although it was to stop him from taking more meds, Suah ‘helping’ him out and losing control was still dubcon yet the framing was very comedic and raunchy because of how desperate Suah was (Juhyeok literally tries running away and it becomes a face plant joke and the setup for a new position orz) Juhyeok gets mad again, the artstyle gets silly again
Chapter 6, when he has to confront Suah after he forced himself on him and tries to set his boundries, they’re both just silly chibis with silly expressions? The artstyle only becomes serious when Suah is apologizing and making his own excuses but the second Juhyeok gets angry about it and calls him a literal rapist, it switches back to cartoon and him being a cat on the fence. Then the famous ch. 8 where we get the sad sua backstory and him professing how he doesn’t mind being used (as if it wasn’t him who put him in a situation where Juhyeok is forced to use him whether he wants to or not).
After, it just becomes Juhyeok being conflicted with how good Suah’s pheromones feel but being too stubborn to actually fall for him and Suah is constantly portrayed as a white knight who would patiently wait for him and do anything for him. Every time he tries to set boundaries while outside of sex, it’s played so over the top and goofy- usually never has the chance to speak because he’s so high off of pheromones?? Chapter 14 is the first real time Suah gets mad and in the story he’s allowed to get MAD (because Juhyeok needs to use him again like their plan) and it’s Juhyeok who has to grovel and beg for him to leave while Suah cries- which I do remember is when I really started getting pissed off because Juhyeok was saying every correct reason as to why he shouldn’t stay and how he has to take responsibility yet Suah is still able to leave because his feelings were hurt :(((
I love how they seriously depict Juhyeok’s conflict with his identity as an omega and how he’s giving it his everything to not let it hold him back but when it comes to his feelings towards Suah, it’s in terms of how he’s dependent on him and how he’s never really allowed to be angry at him seriously despite also being used by him through these sexual favors.

aH I'm so sorry that some of what I wrote is kind of backwards but hopefully what I meant still makes sense ╥﹏╥
it's Juhyeok who has to grovel and beg for him not to leave while Suah cries* Juhyeok was saying every correct reason as to why he should stay and how he has to take responsibility*
GAAAHHH realizing now this is the same situation as 'Love is an Illusion' where Hyesung, the omega, was always portrayed as in the wrong for not giving in because of how much of an eccentric and selfish person he was and Dojin, the alpha, was always portrayed as desperate and a lover despite being the one who's the most responsible for it all (MAJOR MAJOR SPOILERS!!!- literally baby-traps him and bonds with him for life without consent). Sure, Hyesung isn't the nicest character but Dojin is kinda forced to accept the attitude since he can't leave :sob: TIME IS A CIRCLE IT'S ALL THE SAME

You are totally right. I have always felt uncomfortable with how MC’s boundaries and feelings meant nothing in this story, now while rereading it I clearly see that it is THE story that is belittling him in general
I'm totally being delusional here seeing my ghosts but while reading the creators note, a small, very very quiet and evil part of me wonders if they too were a klance fan at one point bc real my fondness for goofy characters could be traced back to lance im ngl so seeing those early designs gave me whiplash
my profile is atrocious it’s all funny guy BL or whatever I found interesting and/or enjoyed- (or sunk cost fallacy stories I finished/am reading out of obligation even if I didn’t enjoy it as much ahhh) don’t expect too much from here orz im the nerd emoji but im just talking outta my ass haha
most of the lists were made for myself to look back on and make note of things I liked so don’t take them too seriously i’m a biased woman
okay please leave me now I’m so embarrassed oh my god go away go away go away go away go away go away stay the hell away from me

Thank you for somehow perfectly verbalizing my exact feelings.
The way my stomach churn when he said stop again and again eughh.
