It's happens a lot. Schools do this to increase their own record.

Well, its not like Jun didn't work hard for his grades, but just one exam almost ruined his chances to get to the uni he wants, so I kind of get it. The school gains and Jun also gets to erase this one failure that could influence his future. I guess its fair since Jun is indeed smart enough to uphold these grades.

If I remember correctly it isn't the grades they change, but rather add some extra-curricular activities to his record so that it looks better. They might also remove the bullying incident.

That almost happened to me. Exams were overlapped and so we were given the option to delay one of our subjects to a week or two later. I had my exam delayed for two weeks after, but the teacher mixed it up as the next week. So when I finally showed up for it two weeks later, she said she thought I was sick or something for the first date and just put a mark that was similar to my other marks so far, telling me not to worry about it. I still insisted to write the test since I studied for it, but I don't know which was the final mark she used.
Bur the fact she could just pick a number to put when she thought I wouldn't even see the test was crazy.

There were also rumors that the weighting was adjusted for some people. If you did great all year then messed up the last exam, they alledgedly adjusted your mark to show what you were most consistent with. I was convinced something like that happened with me, because I came first in my school despite believing that I bombed my finals. You can't actually see your final test papers to confirm unless you request them from the government, so you never know.
