You guys do realize Yuki and Mafuyu grew up together right? There was a point in time where Yuki was all Mafuyu knew. He was the only one who understood him and Mafuyu still blames himself for Yuki's death. Yuki was Mafuyu's first boyfriend so he's trying to avoid any of the same mistakes he made with Yuki in his relationship with Uenoyama, that's why he's so distant. Plus it hasn't even been a year since Yuki's death. Obviously Mafuyu is still grieving. When you lose someone it's easy to get caught up in the memories you had with them. I get that no one wants to see Ue get hurt. He's our baby, but we have to respect Mafuyu too. He's probably going through the most right now.

It’s true that Mafuyu is going though the biggest trauma, but I don’t like how Mafuyu is reacting at all.

Uenoyama knew what he was going to face when he fell in love with Mafuyu and never regretted his choice.

Trying to save a person who’s drowning can make you drown too.

And it looks like to me Mafuyu is not even trying to reach the surface.

I don’t want Uenoyama to waste his energies in a challenge that has so uncertain chances of success, but Ue is so in love that he would go though Hell too for Mafuyu.

But Uenoyama’s life can’t revolve around Mafuyu. It would become toxic otherwise.

Idk either. Personally, I think Mafuyu is trying, but it's a lot for one person to handle. I think the mangaka should have given Mafuyu some more time to develop as a person rather than putting Ue and Mafuyu together right after the kiss.
It's already difficult having do deal with regular emotions if you're someone that has a hard time identifying them, to have to process the death of a loved one by yourself sounds incredibly difficult.
The worst part is, Mafuyu is dealing with everything alone. Most of the people around him that do know about his past seem to dance around the topic. Mafuyu really needs a space to talk about his emotions and I think that's what Ugetsu and Akihiko are able to provide.
It doesn't help either that the fandom just want's Mafuyu to forget about Yuki and focus on Uenoyama.
The manga is still a ways away from ending though, so you never know what might happen. Maybe Ue and Mafuyu won't stay together. Maybe they'll separate after highschool and meet in the future. You never know with stories like these.

Yeah I know... I just want Ue’s actions to be acknowledged. I agree with the kiss, it should have not happened so soon, because in thins way Mafuyu is evidently regressing. I think that Ue is trying to come out with a song from Yuki’s demo because it’s challenging of course, but especially because he wants to help Mafuyu. I hope once Mafuyu hears the song and acknowledge that it was Yuki’s song and that Uenoyama put so much effort into it (very bravely) he’ll realize that Ue is not trying to leave him behind, but he’s acrually trying to walk close to each other. I really hope for a happy ending, because I’m SUFFERINGGGG.

I read a manhwa called “See you again” in which for the first... 60 chapters maybe(?) (which is a looooooooot) the main character is not able to go over his toxic and violent ex and keeps going to him and running away from his childhood friend, who is near him and wants to comfort him. I think that if Yuki was alive and they just broke up for a reason, Mafuyu would have done the same thing.
