There was a manhwa I had just started before the great mangago wipe of 2026. I’ve rediscovered most of my comics and remade my lists but there is just one that I can’t find anywhere.
From what I vaguely remember, the mc is reincarnated into an otome game they played in their past life as the daughter of the original female lead i(n the bad ending of the game). Her fairy mother is held captive by her cruel father, the emperor, and she decides that she’s going to protect her mum and as soon as she’s able to talk/walk etc. they run away and live out in a village for a few years.
But eventually the father’s knights locate them and in trying to capture the mother almost kill the mc, which leads to the mother using some secret fairy spell to turn back time for the mc, sending her to the past (in the timeline it’s just before the beginning of the otome game). Then the mc searches for a duke, requests a meeting, and asks to become his disciple (?)
Is it me or is more of the art gradually being replaced with AI
Examples?
Some definite uses of AI are: the movie posters shown in the theatre, a book cover gongja is reading (in chapter 54) and the scene of the Chinatown movie his mother stars in (chapter 63). It seems at first it was initially only used for small details that get overlooked but were too time consuming to draw.
Speculations beyond those: earlier in chapter 54, the scene above where the book cover is shown, the aunty’s face is missing an eye in a way that doesn’t seem intentional. At the beginning of chapter 70 there is a random line streaked across gongja’s face which a regular 3d model shouldn’t have. As gongja runs away from his cousin shin his mouth cuts off in a way that doesn’t line up with his face (chapter 66).
A lot of scenes where the pov is zoomed out/less detail is required the faces look strange. E.g: when the blue girl interrupts the mother and shin (chapter 71). when the sister looks up to the sky and says that she misses her dead brother (chapter 70). In the interview thing (Chapter 58)
Yeah those definitely do give AI slop vibes ╥﹏╥
How unfortunate
I heard it's becoming increasingly more common for manhwa artists to resort to it due to the strict deadlines and I've been seeing it more in other manhwa as well :(
I wouldn't be shocked. I've read they're really pro-AI in South Korea.
These ai translators are putting the whole manhwa into ai, not just for translation but def for cleaning too. And gen ai is known for always changing something in the process. Also, I think they're trying to "upscale it" to not look blurry so they put it into ai to make images look sharper, but ofc gen ai ruins everything.
