This is my take. I think hye-sung is doing this for the sake of his kids. He feared his mom the most bc that's what hurts him the most. Yeh, it's annoying that byul and dojin are doing things behind hye-sung, but let's try looking in their situation in this reality lens in the story. Byul and Dojin did it bc hye sung mom's mirrors him, not in the rotten part but maybe bc they take care of family bonds more than anything (korean culture ig), and hye sung trying to open himself again says a lot how he wanted to put an end to that strained rs he have with his mom, again i think for the sake of his kids. we all know that hye-sung are capable to decide JUST for himself. we all know hye sung wouldn't do something he didn't think over and over. hye-sung is capable to decide on his own guys, he's not that weak ass, baby of ours, that he'll just suddenly listen to dojin and byul. it's fully hye sung's choice
