Yeah ngl when he mentioned being an Omega I was like "huh!??¿ this is omegaverse??" I don't necessarily mind it but I do feel like its mainly a tool for the 2 main characters to come together since they can't resist the pheromones. Otherwise I don't see our MC ever falling for the ML, he'd put him behind bars if anything
Not really, MC reacted to the pheromones because his heat was delibrately induced. Later in the novel, ML releases his pheromones again but doesn’t have any effect on MC. I would like to hope the storyline will take a different turn from your regular omegaverse.(▰˘◡˘▰)

Safe to say chapter 1 and 2 confused me at first too lol. But in my defense I read them in rush.
Basically it's a modern day BL still set in royal historical times also with the hint of omegaverse.
Once you keep reading you'll understand. You can even continue rereading and then reread the first 2/few chapters once you grasp what's going on so they make better sense
